Salt Creek Primary students were visited by the Library Dogs. Students were excited to take turns reading to the dogs.

September's lesson was all about apples. They talked about the life cycle of the apple and how the apple trees blossom in the spring, the flowers are pollinated by bess and then the apples grow all summer and are harvested in the fall. They discussed different varieties of apples and where they are grown. They completed the lesson by creating their own representation of an apple tree in the spring and in the fall side by side.

Dates for Parent Teacher Conferences at Stella May Swartz are Wednesday, October 19th from⋅3:00 – 6:45pm and Thursday, October 27th, from⋅3:00 – 8:00pm. Please make sure to sign up once your child's teacher sends out their email for Sign up Genius for their class conferences.

This school year our students at Stella may Swartz will be receiving a birthday book on their birthday. When their birthday is announced in the morning the will come to the book vending machine and meet Mrs. Siddiqi. They will get a token to pick any book in the vending machine. Every student will receive one for the 2022/23 school year.

With the weather starting to change it is always a good idea to have extra clothing at school. Please have it in a bag marked with your child's name on it. Items like socks, underwear, sweatpants and a shirt are good to have just incase. You never know if something may spill or they fall in a puddle outside. Accidents happen on occasion by surprise and it is always best to be prepared at both Salt Creek and Swartz for all grade Pre-K thru 4th.

If your child will be or was absent on picture day on October 5th, will be having our retake day on Thursday, November 17th. Once we get closer to the date we will send a reminder out with information. We never want to miss those smiling faces non picture day!

In honor of Mrs. Jurgutis' class doing a great job of being responsible by turning in the homework on time, we did a Quick Spin and earned a Pajama Day incentive! On Friday, 9/30, is Swartz PJ Day! So proud of our students!

Students earned a prize drop this week and brought in an item to share for show and tell.

Students will begin checking out special library books with a stuffed puppy too! Students will receive 5 books, a stuffed puppy and a puppy kennel to take home starting soon.

If you would like to volunteer at your child's school of Salt Creek or Swartz you must have a volunteer form filled out to be able to do so. If you are not sure if you have done this already please call the school office and we can check your child's file. If you have a child in both schools and filled out one please let us know so we can just follow up with the other school and save you time of filling out another form. Thank you in advance for helping with our schools.

Students learned about how traits of animals change over time when their environment changes. They played a game where they received different animal traits and created their own animal. They then received an environment and determined which animal would survive the best. The person who had the best animal, got to wear the animal on the chain.

If your child is home because they tested positive from COVID19, we will contact you for remote instruction for the time that they are home. Students will be able to sign on remotely with their teacher for classes, such as ELA, math, science and social studies. If your child is unwell, please do not have them remote in to instruction. They need to rest and relax so they can return to in-person learning. If your child is not coming to school for non-COVID19 related reasons, they will not be able to remote in for instruction. Non-COVID19 related reasons include, but are not limited to, stomachache, tired, mild headache, runny nose, etc.

New Notes from the Nurse 10.7.22

The Health Offices at both Salt Creek Primary and Stella May Swartz are in need of gently used pants and shorts of all sizes for our Pre-K through 4th graders, in the event of an accident or spill at school. Sweatpants, basketball shorts, and any pants with a drawstring are preferred. If you have pants or shorts that you are willing to donate, please send them to either school addressed to the nurse or drop them off at the front desk.

We are so pleased to offer after school clubs at Swartz this year! Clubs will start on Wednesday, October 12th with 3rd grade Stella Stars (Drama Club). All clubs end between 3:25 and 3:30. We will have a late bus on the days that there is a club. Please make sure to let the club teacher or office know if you will have your child use the late bus. These stops are not regular stops. They are communal stops that you must be at to pick you child up from. If you have any question please contact the school office or the club teacher.

Parents please take a moment to sign on to your Skyward account to check your child's food balance account. It is helpful to check this weekly or every other week depending on how often your child eats breakfast or hot lunch at school. This will make you aware of where the balance is at so it can be manageable throughout the school year. No one wants to see a surprise balance on their child's account!
