Tardiness
Let's help students build a habit of good attendance! Late arrivals to school are being tracked. Students who are tardy to school 3 times in a 9 week period will be issued after school detention. Please help us by getting your students to school on time. They should be in their classrooms by 7:50 a.m. Students who are late because the bus arrives late will not be counted as tardy. Thank you for your help with this!
For attendance notes, please be sure to email notes directly to LMSattendance@lcsedu.net or marinojs@lcsedu.net. Responding to the automated attendance messages will not get your messages to the attendance staff, resulting in unexcused absences. All notes must be received either the day that the student returns, or the following day (by the end of the school day). Thank you!
SPOT Staff of the Week
Ms. Spencer
"Ms. Spencer taught art for the first 2 years at Linkhorne but has been teaching theater for the last 2 years. She has been teaching theater for 8 years now. When she isn't teaching, producing, or directing here at LMS, she is busy directing and scenic designing around the community. She works as a children's theater director at the Academy Center of the Arts and also is a theater professor at the University of Lynchburg. Her favorite part of working at LMS is watching students grow to their fullest potential both onstage and off. She also loves her fine arts staff and truly enjoys being their chair!"

Tips From the Nurse
Greetings Jaguar families,
I hope you all have had a wonderful summer! We are all looking forward to the beginning of the school year with your students. We have missed them all so much!
This is a reminder that if your child has a chronic health condition such as asthma, diabetes, seizure disorder, or a life threatening allergy the school division requires the school clinic to have a Health Care Action Plan signed by a healthcare provider and parent/guardian for each school year. The Action Plan may also include permission for medication.
Virginia Diabetes Medical Management Plan (DMMP)
Health Care Action forms may also be found on the LCS website: https://www.lcsedu.net/parents/forms
If your child does not have one of the above chronic illnesses, but requires medication while at school, the clinic must have a Physician/Parent Authorization to Administer Medication form.
This form must be completed and signed by a healthcare provider and parent/guardian. While we highly encourage students to take medication at home, we understand that there are circumstances that will require your student to take medications while at school. Please consider the following guidelines for medication administration by the nurse/clinic while your student is in school:
A parent/guardian may come to the school and administer medication to their student at any time during school hours.
A Physician/Parent Authorization to Administer Medication form must be completed and signed by both the prescribing healthcare provider and parent/guardian prior to any medication administration at school.
No medication (including over the counter medications such as Tylenol or Advil) will be given without a completed medication authorization form signed by a physician and the parent/guardian.
All medications must be brought to the school by the parent/guardian. Medication must be signed in by both the parent/guardian and the nurse/school designee. Medications may not be brought to school by the student.
Prescription medications must be in the original pharmacy bottle containing the student’s name, medication name, dosage, route, and frequency.
Over the counter medication must be in a sealed, original container. Containers/bottles that have been opened will not be accepted.
Students are to report to the clinic at the time their medication is scheduled to be administered.
A parent/guardian must supply refills when needed.
It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to pick up medication at the end of the school year. Any medication that is not picked up will be disposed of. No medication will be kept over the summer, or until the next school term.
Thank you so much Jaguar country and I look forward to caring for your amazing students and having a GREAT, happy and healthy school year! ~Nurse Tyree
