It's the LAST FULL day before finals start....and every day we strive to BE KIND and find a reason to laugh! So on Monday let's have a little fun by "GETTING OUR UGLY ON". If you have a ugly sweater (that is school appropriate, of course) then wear it tomorrow! If you wear one....see me at my "mobile office" table in the hallway during lunches tomorrow to get a ticket to be entered into a end of day gift card drawing! Who will be the winner? Staff and students can both enter!
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
Only one more regular school day before the final exam schedule kicks off on Tuesday. (See the schedule below) Don't forget that even though you exempted classes, if you get in trouble, they will be removed and you are responsible for taking the finals. Make good choices and finish strong Longhorns!
Seniors...you are about to close out your LAST first semester, which means in one short semester you will be walking across tht stage as a high school graduate! Make sure you are soaking up every minute of making memories, because it will be gone in the blink of an eye as you all spread your wings and head off in different directions. Let your parents spend time with you, (and don't roll your eyes), as they are wanting to soak up every minute of their time with you, as well! They have earned it!
Longhorn families, I wish you lots of peace and joy this holiday season, and I hope you are able the enjoy the "REAL" present ...which is "PRESENCE"...the TIME spent with those you love. This has not been easy, through the hustle and bustle we call life and COVID that has sadly robbed us of family, friends, and most importantly the TIME we would normally be spending with each other over the past year and a half. I urge you to take advange of "BEING PRESENT" and celebrating this TIME to reconnect with each other and hopefully stepping away from technology a bit too.
Our office/building will be closed from December 17th at 4:00PM until January 3rd at 8:00AM. If you are needing something over the break it MUST be taken care of before the 17th at 4:00pm, as we will be taking this time ot reconnect with our own family and will not be checking email until we get back. Thank you for understanding and we will be happy to asssit you when we come back on January 3rd. See the December deadlines below that have been in the LAST 2 weekly news and gone over on daily announcements by me personally, as well as in advisory classes on Mondays. There is no wiggle room on these.
This will be my last GRHS Longhorn News until January 2nd, as I too will be stepping away to spend time with my own family. We love you, stay safe, and we will see you NEXT year Longhorns!

Behavior Reminders!
We have been more than generous with working around some troublesome behaviors that developed throughout this past year and a half with school not looking or feeling the same, but we have been in school long enough now to RELEARN the expectations again. The amount of time spent by our staff on these type of things during a hard year already, is stopping. We are raising the bar to back where I set it in the fall of 2019 when I was first asked to take this job, and I expect you to follow suit.
- No ID = NO PHONE USE (even at lunch) If you refuse to put them up, it's a write up.
- Phones must be put away at all times in the classrooms, unless there is an instruction purpose GIVEN by the teacher and the sign is on GREEN. If you refuse to follow this, it will be a write up.
- Ignoring teachers/staff when they are asking you to put on ID or to put your phone up will be a write up. (That's just disrespect)
- In the hallways without an ID AND a pass during class time, will be a write up. Parents- if you wonder why grades are slipping...it's their personal devices and lack of urgency to participate in class.
- Instigating, participating, or videoing an altercation (regardless of how small) will be a write up. If you are part of a fight, you will be placed at ALC.
Let me say...that you are BETTER than this, but the lack of respect (post COVID) that many are showing is not fair to the MAJORITY of our Longhorns and Staff that are here putting in the work each and every day. Do better...because you ARE better!
NO ILLEGAL PARKING ON 762 to pick up students (or DROPPING OFF IN PARKING LOT) PLEASE! THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE, CAUSING PARKING ISSUES FOR OUR STAFF TO GET TO MORNING TUTORIALS!
ID's Mandatory!
- LANYARDS W/GRHS ISSUED ID - ALL GRHS STUDENTS SHOULD NOW HAVE AN ID AND LANYARD AND ARE EXPECTED TO BE WEARING IT 100% OF THE TIME INSIDE OUR BUILDING!
- NEED A NEW LANYARD/ID BRING $5 to the library between 8:00-8:15am!
- GRHS ID's must be VISIBLY WORN on the TOP half of your body. If you refuse, you will have disciplinary consequences. NO more temporaries will be given out.
GRHS DRESS CODE - REVIEW IT - KNOW IT - BE IN IT!
What do I do if my student tests positive for COVID? See the campus protocol below for how you need to report in order for us to ensure that minimal disruption will happen to your student's schedule. You can help us help you by closely following these steps!
Procedures, Remote Conferencing, and Notifications.
