Stephen Decatur Family Newsletter
Family Edition January 20, 2023
A Message from the Principal
January is flying by! This month we have had:
Success Time to celebrate accomplishments
An Ice Cream party for team Red Pandas for having the most math facts growth
A field trip to ZipCity for fundraiser winners
An Honor Roll pancake breakfast
On Monday our Kona Ice party winners from the Major Saver fundraiser will enjoy their treats.
We would also like to celebrate great attendance this month for our English Language Learners. Our team has tested half of each grade level and only had ONE make-up test. We are also Decatur Proud to welcome the Structured Teach program to Stephen Decatur and a new UIndy tutor to our staff. Growth is occurring in all areas and will increase with the continued dedication of our staff, parents, students, and community.
Decatur Proud,
Mrs. Pearson, Principal

Decatur Township Culture Guide
E= Events: We cannot control things that happen
R= Response: We can control our response to the event
O=Outcome: Having a proper response will get the desired outcome.
This concept is powerful for all of us. Daily, many things happen that are out of our control. We can lash out or we can pause, think, and then respond. Pausing for reflection allows us to get the outcome that we need and want.
