Dear GLOBE community,

On Tuesday, April 26, Dekalb County School District (DCSD) voted 4-1 to remove Superintendent Watson-Harris. Many of you may have seen news reports on this leadership change and may have questions about how the change may impact your students’ experience at GLOBE.

Because we are a charter school with our own leadership and decision-making autonomy, we anticipate that the impact of this decision on the day-to-day experience of students at GLOBE to be minimal. Our Board is moving forward with our charter renewal and facilities planning processes, while our teachers and administrators are continuing to work hard to provide a great learning experience for our students. We will continue to follow this news and will provide updates to the community should we feel that leadership changes at DCSD will have any significant impact on our school.

Our Board and school leadership remains committed to strong governance and transparency in our work. We look forward to a great finish to the academic year.

The GLOBE Auction was a huge success! Thank you to the participants (online and in person) and volunteers that made it such a wonderful evening. The total amount raised will be announced once winnings have been reconciled, but definitely before the end of the year. By far, the best part of the auction was seeing faces and being together again!

GLOBE is centering its celebration this year around the ABCs of AAPI's Coloring Book, that launched this past Saturday. Check out the flyer to preview programming and be on the lookout for more posts highlighting the diversity and longevity of the contributions and experiences of our communities.

The GLOBE Academy Chorus will hold their spring concert at the Upper Campus parking lot, from 5pm, on Thursday, May 12.

PTCC Officers for the 2022-23 School Year

Congratulations to Justin Stubbs (Co-Chair) and Ana Catarina Teixeira (Secretary) on being elected as our new officers. Thanks to Justin and Ana for stepping up! They will serve for the next two school years and will join Stephanie Gumbis (Co-Chair) and Farah Chang (Treasurer), who are currently serving their second year as PTCC officers.

Tennis Team

Congratulations to the Girls Tennis team for winning the Conference Championship! They defeated Atlanta International 2-1 in the semi-finals and St. Martins 3-0 in the Finals.

The Boys B Team also defeated Howard Middle School on Saturday 4-2. Congratulations!

The end of the season banquet for all boys and girls teams took place on Tuesday, May 3, at Echo Ridge Tennis Center.

Flag Football

GLOBE's 8th grade Flag Football Team won the MAAC Conference Championship! They were undefeated this season and played superbly as a team to defeat Cliff Valley 34-17.

The flag football awards banquet will take place on Wednesday, May 11, from 4pm to 5:30pm, at Silverbacks Field. There will be a scrimmage, followed by awards and refreshments. We look forward to celebrating the conclusion of a great season. Any and all parents are welcome to attend.

Atlanta Track "All-Comers Meets'

GLOBE has applied for a Spanish Conversation and Cultural Assistant (Auxiliares) grant from the Spanish Embassy. Pending approval, we will need amazing GLOBE families to share their home with an Auxiliar! Weekly COVID-19 testing

Viral Solutions will be back on campus again on Thursday, May 5, to provide all GLOBE students and staff with access to free rapid antigen testing. The positivity rates of each testing clinic can be found on tab 2 of the Data Dashboard. Results will be updated the day after each testing clinic occurs. If you would like to enroll your student in testing for the semester, you can fill out the consent form here. If you have questions about the testing process or how to receive your student's results, please read the FAQ flyer.

We understand that plans can change. If your student’s plans to return to GLOBE have changed from “yes” to “no” between now and the start of the 2022 school year, please complete this form. Having an accurate count for the school year allows us to plan and budget appropriately or allows a student from our waiting list to fill the open spot.
