Week of September 12th-16th

That was a long, short week

Hello PES family,

I hope each of you has had a great weekend and found some time for relaxation and family. We had a short two day with students this past week but looked forward to returning to a whole week. I want to say a huge thanks to each of you for coming to our Parent Teacher Conference. I also want to thank our teachers who stayed until after 7:30 to ensure they met with each parent.

We have three weeks before we move into Fall Break. During these weeks, we will have a lot of activities happening on our campus and across the district. I encourage you to check out our calendar, website, the paid sheet link, and Facebook to keep up with these events. We want you, the parent/guardian, to know what is happening and not be surprised by anything.

We are also approaching nine weeks of testing time. It is essential for your child to be present at school to be prepared for these assessments and so much more. Here is an article that provides more information about absenteeism's impact on student learning. These"10 facts" and the attached articles beside the points will help give you a deeper understanding.

Smart School

SMART SCHOOL is in full force. Smart School is a chance for students to get extra help with homework, studying for tests, and keeping up to date with online programs. Smart School is open until 6 each day. If you want more information about it, please contact Dr. Pearcy by emailing her @ amanda.pearcy@decaturschools.org.

PES Choir

The PES Choir will meet this Thursday from 3:30 - 4:00.

I hope you will make it to these meetings tomorrow evening. We will share a lot of information about our school and then hold our monthly PTO meeting.
