A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families and Supporters,
This week I would like to talk a little bit about traffic. It is MUCH more interesting when children demonstrate so...here is a PSA video about how we can all be safe as we arrive for pick up.

Everyone has been amazing and has been stopping for our buses so patiently. Reminders are always great and our Kindergarten safety officers want us to remember SAFETY FIRST.
There was an interesting traffic jam this week after ASE. This jam occurred as cars were coming down the driveway two at a time and there was no gap to allow cars to leave the parking lot. Here are the lessons we learned that day!
- Please always come down the driveway in one line. Not only is this about access but also about safety. Emergency vehicles must have a lane to enter without obstruction. Lastly, when coming down the drive towards the school, please pay close attention and stay the the right as you are coming around the bend.
- Always leave a gap as you are making the turn towards the back of the school so cars can exit from the parking lot.
- We have had some interesting dog situations at RES this year. We LOVE dogs but want to make sure they don't jump out of cars and into the parking lot.
We know the parking lot can be confusing and congested at times but if we all go slowly, stay off cell phones and pay close attention to cars and one another, we will be in great shape!
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts

Notes
OPTIONAL DONATIONS:
- Contribute a gift card to Market Basket, Target, etc. for RES families in need.
- Notecards, stationary, etc to support our Rye Writes program!
- We are really wanting to create more welcoming conference rooms where we can meet with families and teachers from our district schools. If you are thinking of throwing away anything decorative, please let us know. These are not very friendly spaces and we would love to spruce them up!
Holiday Parties:
Families can attend the 8:30 AM assembly on December 16. This is the event that all family members will be invited to attend during the day.
Parties: When planning, keep in mind the following recommendations from the Wellness Committee for all parties:
• one homemade treat avoiding artificial dyes and/or high fructose corn syrup
• one or two healthy snacks (a great way to get creative with colorful fruits and vegetables)
• one moving activity (relay race, tossing, balancing, wrapping friends in toilet paper)
• one artistic craft as an option
• keep in mind RES efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle
We do ask that room parents/guardians email the teacher and Lori Flint all food choices a week ahead so there are no surprises and Mrs. Flint can process whether these are safe for all students in a particular class. Please email her if you have questions! lfint@sau50.org
