Dear Families:
Staff News for 2024- 2025 - We have some retirements to celebrate at the end of the school year! Congratulations to Lisbet Jenkins (5th), Lisa Schmidt (Gifted), and Judy Wasko (Financial Tech) as they begin a new chapter in their lives. Their service and dedication to students & families at Catoctin are greatly appreciated!
Mr. Tipton (Dean) has accepted another position for next year and will be teaching Adaptive P.E. We have truly enjoyed having him as a part of our administrative team and wish him the very best in his new adventure!
Next year, we are adding two special education Autism programs. One will serve K - 2 students and another will serve students in grades 3 - 5. We are currently working to staff these new programs.
Due to some fluctuations in enrollment numbers we will have six first grade classes next year. Fourth grade and second grade will have four classes each. We are very excited that Mrs. Haakonson and Ms. Miron will be joining the first grade team.
Fifth Grade News (This is a repeat from previous newsletters): As in the past, we are only able to give students two tickets for family members to join us at the promotion at 8:30 a.m. on the last day of school. We will also broadcast the celebration virtually for other family members that want to attend but are not able. We have a great group of parents who are organize the 5th grade party. We appreciate those who came forward to help plan this event. More news will be coming!
PTA Supply Order Forms: Are attached to this email. All supply boxes are delivered to school and ready for the first day of school in the fall.
PTA T-Shirt Contest: Our PTA is calling all budding artists for their annual T-shirt design contest. The PTA wants students to showcase their creativity and design skills by submitting their original artwork for next year's shirt. Entries must be received by the end of the school day on April 26th, and only current K-4 students are eligible to participate. The design should prominently feature the words "Catoctin," "Catoctin Elementary School," "Cardinals," or any combination thereof. Remember to use only black marker or ink on a white 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. Parents, submissions can be emailed to catoctinpta@gmail.com, but make sure to keep the original artwork. The winner will receive a FREE T-shirt featuring their design next fall!
