Shelton Elementary School
23/24 School Year Weekly Newsletter
November 22nd
In the past on November 22nd, Shelton Elementary has welcomed Grandparent's into the building to celebrate Grandparent's Day. Throughout the past few years we have seen a decline in the number of Grandparent's and Special Friends that are able to attend the event. Over the years we have numerous students who are unable to have anyone attend this event with them. The staff would like to try a new tradition that we are calling Friendsgiving where high school and elementary students are paired up for a variety of fun activities throughout the morning. The idea behind the change is that no students would feel left out, and we build relationships throughout the building giving everyone a sense of connectedness.
Attendance Matters
Yes, school attendance matters for several reasons.
Education: Attending school regularly is essential for acquiring knowledge and skills. It provides students with access to a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a conducive learning environment.
Academic Success: Consistent attendance is strongly correlated with academic success. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve better grades, perform well on standardized tests, and graduate on time.
Social Development: School is not just about academics; it's also a place where students interact with peers, develop social skills, and learn important life lessons. Regular attendance helps students build friendships and develop emotional intelligence.
It's important for parents, guardians, educators, and policymakers to recognize the significance of school attendance and work together to ensure that all children have access to quality education and the support they need to attend school regularly.
Recess and Cooler Weather
Dressing for cooler weather requires careful consideration of the temperature, weather conditions, and your own comfort preferences. Whether it's autumn, winter, or a chilly day in spring, we aim to get the students outside for recess everyday. Please help make sure your student is properly dressed for the cooler weather.
