Announcements & Updates

- If you have not already done so, please review the communication from Mrs. Juliano re: Updated School Calendars, emailed on March 22. Given the updated 2022-2023 calendar, 8th grade Promotion will take place on the last day of school, Tuesday, June 6.


- If your child is 14 years of age and planning to look for a summer job, please visit Ms. Walsh's website for information about how to apply for working papers. Please note that there are multiple steps involved in securing the right signatures in the appropriate order. Please contact Mrs. McGarry (mcgarry@mendhamboroschools.org) when you begin this process so we can assist you in securing your child's papers in a timely fashion.


- Student Chromebooks will not be collected or disabled over the Spring break. During this time, parents are reminded to please monitor their child's technology use, including social media. For tips and more information on parental controls and managing screen time, please visit Common Sense Media's "Parents Need to Know" resources.

A note from Ms. Walsh

Happy Friday before Spring Break Mountain View! I hope everyone enjoyed the warmer weather this week, and got some fresh air and sunshine. Today was a fun Friday! The students participated in the Hollyrock Assembly; a game show brought right to the Mountain View Cafeteria where students and teachers participated in trivia and physical challenges. Today was also an Advisory day. To end our day on a fun note, each EEE worked collaboratively to escape Narnia in a virtual escape room.


As we think ahead to next week, I hope everyone takes the opportunity to relax and restore. Without the structure and routine of school, it is likely that kids will spend more time online or in front of screens. I often share with you all articles about conversations surrounding screen time and appropriate social media usage for middle schoolers, but I have not shared many articles sharing the science behind minimizing screen time and online presence. Check out both of the linked articles below to learn more about the impact of screen time on the brain and emotional regulation.
