News from the Principal's Desk


Happy New Year to all of the Kewaunee Middle School families! All of us at KMS hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are off to a great start in 2023.


January is a great time to bring the focus back to academics. Start 2023 by helping your child(ren) do their homework at a consistent time and talking with them on a regular basis about school. It is important to always have good communication between your home and classroom, so please check in with your child(ren)’s teachers frequently to help them succeed academically and socially. If the old “What did you do in school today?” isn’t working very well, try one of these questions to help generate a conversation:


  • Tell me about the best part of your day.
  • What was the most challenging thing you did today?
  • Tell me about what you read today.


Please check out the calendar for all of the dates and times of important events that are happening this month. Here are some reminders to help you get started:


  • Please remember to send your child with a warm coat, hat, and gloves.
  • January 16– School Board Meeting
  • January 16 - NO SCHOOL (Teacher Planning Day)


Just a reminder that doors to the building do not open until 7:30 AM due to staffing coverage.

Boys Basketball Finishes Season Strong!

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Boys Basketball team as they placed 3rd in the Conference Tournament Championship back on December 17, 2022.

KMS Band and Choir Concert

Students is grades 6-8 held their Band and Choir concert on Monday, December 12, 2022 and did an excellent job! Students were directed by Mr. Ryan Fitz in band and Ms. Heather Roberts in choir. Keep up the great work!

The STEAM​ Club will meet in the KHS Tech Ed and Innovation Labs on January 12 & 26 from 3:20-4:15 PM. Students should be picked up in the bus loading zone at 4:15.
