WE Club Community Outreach

Our Kulshan WE Club wants your help! Most of us are lucky enough to spend the holidays in a warm home with our families, but others in Bellingham aren't so lucky. In an effort to be courageous, kind, and committed, WE Club will be making care packages for the Lighthouse Mission. Starting Monday morning there will be a bin on the stage before school for you to drop off items such as toiletries, snacks, socks, hats and gloves. If you have questions about this WE Club project, please email Shanon Fischer, our club leader. Thank you!

Seeking a Teacher Appreciation Lead Volunteer

Do you think we have awesome teachers? Do you want to be involved at Kulshan, but are limited by time? We have the perfect opportunity for you! Kulshan PTSA needs a volunteer to help with Teacher Appreciation. This person would help PTSA do something special for teachers a few times throughout the year and help us coordinate snacks, etc. during Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring. This job doesn't require much time but has a big impact! Contact Cathy Beecham at cathy_beecham@yahoo.com if you are interested!

Counseling News

Counselors are continuing to talk to 6th and 7th graders about the Mood Meter, and the Meta Moment in class over the next couple of weeks. Feel free to explore these ideas with them and help them generate useful strategies that they can use in class to focus, and get back into a learning mindset. As the holidays sneak up on us there are a couple of things we wanted to let people know about. First of all, the holidays can be a wonderful time of relaxation, food, family and outdoor activities, but it can also bring stress and questions about gifts and food. We wanted to let you know that there are options out there for families - just click on this link to view local resources. And as always, connect with one of us if you need additional support. Thank you, Aaron Tiger and Jen Newbauer

You can support Kulshan at the same time by using the link: smile.amazon.com and designating Kulshan. There is no charge to you but a portion of what you spend goes to our PTSA. Shopping for your holiday meal? You can also help PTSA by linking your Fred Meyer Rewards card to Kulshan PTSA 8.3.82. PTSA also collects Box Tops as well. Lunch Box News

Kulshan students have a new lunch box bin to use while storing their lunch boxes and bags. The bin was made by our amazing Buildings and Grounds team. The clearly labeled bins make it easy for students to find their lunch box by grade level. Additionally, we are trying a new strategy: students can store their lunch boxes in their lockers for safe keeping after lunch. We are trying this strategy for a few weeks to see if this student movement can occur while other grade levels are in classrooms learning. Thank you for your ongoing ideas and suggestions!

Winter Sports - Mark Your Calendar
