Principal's Post
Hello Parkwood Parents,
Teachers are preparing for parent conferences, updating data about student progress, and gathering examples of student work so you can see how hard your child(ren) works each day. Report cards will be coming home Friday, October 20. In your child’s report card envelope, you may find a letter describing your child’s performance on the NWEA MAP assessment. Some teachers may choose to give the results to you at the time of your child’s conference. These assessments were taken within the first weeks of school. Your child’s teacher will be prepared to discuss these results with you during your parent/teacher conference.
We have many events and celebrations this month. Scholastic Book Fair is the week of October 2. Family night is Wednesday, October 4 from 5-7pm. Fall Pictures are Tuesday, October 3. We have two Spirit Nights this month and our Trunk or Treat is the evening of October 20. I would like to thank all of our parents and volunteers who worked so hard to make our PTO Fall MUM Fundraiser a success! Over $5500 was raised and will be used to purchase playground equipment for our PreK-Kindergarten Playground!
As the weather gets colder, please make sure your child(ren) wears a jacket or coat. We will be going outside for recess unless the temperature drops below 20 degrees. Please write their name on the inside of the coat so if it is forgotten, we can return it to them. We already have a collection of lost and found. If your child is missing something, please check the the Lost and Found when you come in for your child’s conference.
Sincerely,
Sue Bamford
Tuesday, October 3
Nicholas Studios will be at Parkwood Elementary on Tuesday, October 3 for our Fall Pictures! An envelope was sent home with your child to order pictures. If you would like to order, please fill out the information, including payment, and send the envelope to school with your child on Tuesday, October 3.
Character Education Pillar Schedule
Rooted in the Community
Our district's Character Education Committee is proud to announce the theme for this school year- "Rooted In Our Community." No matter where you go in the school district and Beavercreek area, one does not have to look too far to see our students, staff, families and community members demonstrate the character pillars and make a positive impact each day. Parkwood students will be creating a rock garden to kick off character education! Each student will get to paint a rock for the garden, which will be displayed in the outdoor classroom.
Thank you PTO for purchasing the paint and rocks for our project!

Nursing News
Hello Parkwood Panthers!!
Spread Kindness not Germs
As you know when students come back to school they share more than we’d like germ wise. In order to help prevent the spread, it will take some due diligence on your part at home. Please keep students home for the following reasons:
fever of 100.4 until they 24 hour fever free (without medication)
Active vomiting
Conjunctivitis (pink eye) with drainage until treated for 24 hours
Unexplained rash with drainage or covering a large portion of body
Coming UP . . .
Mandated Health Screenings. To ensure they are getting the most from their lessons, hearing and vision are so very important. Per the state of Ohio, nurses are required to conduct vision and hearing screenings on all new students and students in the grades KG, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11. If you have any helpful information regarding your child’s vision and/or hearing, please contact the clinic at 937-458-2560.

School Fees
Beavercreek City School District strives to create the best learning environment possible for our students while doing this on a balanced budget. Part of our funding comes through student fees that are charged to offset the costs of workbooks, field trips, assemblies, planners, student magazines and other consumable materials.
School fees for the 2023-2024 school year have been posted in PaySchoolsCentral and are due by September 30, 2023. The fee for each elementary student is $65.00. If you are unable to pay your child’s fees by the due date, or need to inquire about assistance in paying your fees, please contact Mrs. Taynor at (937)429-7604 to discuss the options that may be available to you.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
You may pay by cash or check payable to Beavercreek City Schools, or by credit card using the online PaySchoolsCentral.
Reminder
The due date for paying your child’s fees is September 30, 2023. Fees that remain unpaid will result in the suspension of your Progress Book account and/or report card access. (Progress Book accounts are for grades 4-12.)
