Curriculum Coordinators and Instructional Technologists have collaborated to create and share a new resource, Remote Learning Strategies, to help our Remote and Simultaneous Remote/In-Person Teachers. You can always find it in the EMS Curriculum Pages (in Canvas.) Our current tips include:

EMS ISD Accessibility Tools Notebook

Have you seen the new EMS ISD Accessibility Tools Notebook? If not, you are missing out. Our new Notebook has everything you need to meet the needs and accommodations of all your students. You can find our Notebook here. It is packed with useful information about immersive reader and the many applications it is now integrated with. We also explore the new Edge Browser and how it can read PDFs, change page themes, change text size, count syllables, and highlight parts of speech. This is your one stop shop for accommodating your students.


This notebook is a collaborative effort from the #EMSISDIT Team and it will continue to be updated. Emily presented the information in a Teams session in March. Check out the video presentation here.

Last Canvas Login?

To check and see when your students last logged into Canvas, do the following:
  • go to course settings
  • click on course statistics
  • click on the students tab

You will see all of your students and the last time they logged into Canvas.

Restore pages in Canvas

The ability to edit pages in Canvas is great. Especially if you collaborate with other teachers in the same course. Sometimes, however, pages can get edited by mistake and need to restored to a previous version. This can be accomplished easily by doing the following:
  1. Open pages
  2. View all pages
  3. Open the page you would like to restore
  4. View page history
  5. Select to view and/or restore a prior version of the page.


That's it ... easy-peasy!😊

Interactive Videos in Nearpod

Instructional videos are a great way for student to learn content.....especially during remote learning. In order to ensure that your videos have the most impact on students, it important that they are short, to the point, and require students to participate in the learning. A great way to get students to participate in your video is by inserting questions and activities directly into your video.


Nearpod is a fantastic lesson delivery platform that engages students in a variety of ways. Now, you can embed questions into videos that are posted to Nearpod lesson. This new tool is called Interactive Video, and it is now available to all teachers in our district! Here is short video demonstrating how it works.
