Note from Fire Chief Brandon Covey
The Gooding Fire Department has moved into its new station at 2155 Montana Street. It has been a long time in the works and we are all excited to be moved in. We will be having an open house later in the spring with tours of the station and a bite to eat.
We have had several bad structure fires lately with families losing everything they had. We were able to compensate them a little with money from our Burn Out Fund. With that being said we could always use donations to help replenish that account. We ask that everyone makes sure their furnaces have been serviced and their chimneys have been cleaned on a regular basis. Please keep the area around and in front of any furnace or fireplace clear of everything.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a great beginning of 2021!!
God Bless,
Chief Covey
Note from Police Chief Dave Fisher
We would like to thank all of those who donated to our "No Shave November" fundraiser. With the matching funds provided by the "American Woodman" we should reach a total of nearly $1,500 by the end of December. These funds help families in need in our community.
The City is implementing a new dog ordinance that is fairly similar to the previous ordinances but combined into one document with some changes in language and requirements. Some of the changes include an increased license fee for animals who have not been spayed or neutered and proof of rabies vaccination will be required to obtain a dog license. This proof shall be in the form of the rabies certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian. Additionally, there is specific language that prohibits constant restraint of dogs by a chain or other tethering device. If you have a dog(s), you may need a dog run or fenced yard to keep them within your property.
In the coming months, the RV and large vehicle parking ordinance will also be revamped. Currently, campers and camp trailers are not allowed to be parked within the street or upon the city right of way (sidewalk to sidewalk) for more than 6 hours. Enforcement of this ordinance has been more than lenient but we ask all to please remove any such campers or travel trailers from the street or right of ways. Short term exceptions are being made for certain activities such as repairs to homes or other work on properties.
Recycling At City Hall
For those that are not aware, the recycling container at City Hall accepts cardboard, tin and aluminum. The recycling container is free for city residents only. County residents and small businesses are required to pay a fee of $5.00 per cubic yard. No large businesses are permitted to use the facility.
To make the operation as efficient as possible please follow these courtesies:
- Break down cardboard
- Only clean cardboard
- Tin, cardboard and aluminum only
- Do not stack cardboard outside the container
When the container is full, it's full. Please revisit at a later date or take take it to the Wendell Transfer Station. Staff will be monitoring how full the container is and schedule it's pick up and delivery date.
Please do not use the facility if you have not paid for the service. All city residents currently fund the operation through sanitation fees and it has only been budgeted to be collected 20 times per year. If the container continues to be used by all then we will be exceeding how many collections were budgeted.
County residents or businesses can pay at City Hall or by calling (208) 934-5669.
Where Can I Take My Christmas Tree?
