Lockdown Drill: SMS will hold its second lockdown drill of the year next week. It will be “unannounced” to students and staff so office staff will not be able to put signs on the doors notifying visitors of the drill. Staff will not be able to unlock doors nor answer phones until the drill is completed. These drills are an essential part of our emergency preparedness and help students and staff to practice specific protocols that would occur in an emergency situation.

Mask Guidelines Date Change: The statewide indoor mask requirements is scheduled to be lifted on March 19th (as stated in the OHA Announcement of Feb. 24, 2022). Our district will move forward with an optional mask rule once the current mandate ends. Until then masks in school must be worn according to current guidelines covering their mouth and nose. Please remind your student(s) that, until the mask requirement is lifted, they must continue to wear their mask according to current guidelines while they are in school. Masks will still be required on public transportation, which includes school buses. Mesh masks are not allowed.

SMS Choir: If your student is interested in joining choir, please let them know there will be an open house event next Wednesday, March 2. They can stop by the choir room (S18) before school, at lunch (6,7,8th) or after school. They can see what the SMS choir program has to offer as well as meet the HS Mixolydians. We will have music, treats, and information about choir so students can decide if you want to forecast for the class next year. Have them come check it out!

Forecasting Information:

• Current 6th & 7th grade students will receive forecasting information for the 2022-23 school year during Flight Time on March 8th. Please review this information with your student(s). All forecasting paperwork should be turned in by Friday, March 18th.
• Current 8th grade students: The High School Team will return to SMS during Flight Time on March 8th to work with students on forecasting for high school classes. Forecasting will be done online.

Incoming Freshman Information Night: Sherwood High School would like to invite the Class of 2026 and their parents/guardians to an Incoming Freshman Information Night on March 8, 2022, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for students and parents to meet some of our amazing staff members, learn the basics of entering high school, and tour our beautiful campus. If you are interested, please join us on March 8th in the gym at Sherwood High School. We look forward to meeting you and helping you start on the road to high school success.

Lost & Found: Please remind your students to check the lost and found for missing items. Any items remaining after Spring Break will be donated to charity.
