TIGER ROAR 2024-2025
Issue 11 Week of OCTOBER 15 -18
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello everyone,
We are excited to announce our teacher of the year! We will also share other special announcements spotlighting teachers this week. Our teacher of the year and the teachers that we will spotlight this week have similar commonalities:
1) Maximize every minute teaching every day up on their feet interacting and providing immediate corrective feedback to students
2) On track with scope and sequence to ensure students get the information needed to be successful
3) Plan and prepared daily for students. They know this is critical for student success
4) Track student data and holds all students accountable because it can help students succeed academically, develop life skills, and become more invested in their learning
5) NO EXCUSES MINDSET - ALL STUDENTS CAN AND WILL LEARN IN MY CLASS
6) THEIR CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT ENSURES ALL STUDENTS ARE MOTIVATED TO LEARN
7) Evidence of Student Growth
8) SHOWS PASSION AND LOVE for the work they do every day. Students mirror their teacher's passion.
Congratulations on a job well done!
NEW PASSAGES FOR ORAL READING FLUENCY WAS DISTRIBUTED. It is expected to see teachers meet with students daily in rotations throughout the week. 📙📋
K-3 begins high dosage tutoring this week in ELA and Math. Accelerate times must be adhered to ensure students receive the appropriate amount of time. (Zearn and Lexia) DLL Teachers must begin rotations in Imagine Learning Espanol during Breakfast in the Classroom.
Below are important reminders to reach our goals:
AREA to IMPROVE AND FOCUS--> ORACY and INTENTED Learning
How do we ensure that all students have opportunities to speak, talk, read aloud, discuss in every lesson during intentional times (Purpose of lesson)?
How we have all students share their answer/response versus the same student yelling out the answer or calling on the same student in every lesson?
INCREASE RIGOR- Have all students chorally read versus calling one student at a time.
This will be one of our focuses/next steps and critical item that must be evident in every lesson in every classroom.
Thank you,
T. Diaz

Vision Statement
Terrytown Elementary is a diverse school community creating students who become life-long learners and who will productively contribute to our global society.
(Importance of Reading Proficiency in Third Grade)
Louisiana Revised Statute 24.11 The Louisiana Legislature has enacted Act 422 of the 2023 Regular Legislative Session, which mandates that students in traditional public schools must meet specific literacy proficiency standards to be promoted to the fourth grade. Third-grade students who achieve a well below composite score on the DIBELS 8 th literacy screener will not be promoted to the next grade level. Additionally, please note that third-grade students must also satisfy the requirements for promotion based on your local school system's pupil progression, including but not limited to passing grades and attendance.
Grade Recovery
Grade Recovery - All summative grades must be eligible for grade recovery within the same nine weeks. · Students scoring a D or an F on a summative assessment must be offered an opportunity for grade recovery following an opportunity for reteaching. ·
The new grade should be reflective of the average of the original score earned and the score earned on the retest.
· Each school will have in place a plan on how students will remediate and retest to align to these district-level requirements including more specific timelines, structure for reteaching, and requirements around retesting. TTE will use accelerate time (1-2 days out the week) to reteach and reassess.
IMPORTANT UPDATE - ACT 362- SAFE PATH from SCHOOL ACT
-PLEASE WEAR YOUR SAFTEY VESTS EVERY DAY. Every car door opener must wear a safety vest.
-Bright orange cones have been placed by the beams (Cones Areas) Cone 1, Cone 2, etc.
