Developing Young Scientists

Collecting Box Tops and Cereal Boxes

This is our last month to collect box tops! Please bring them to the main office by February 20. Bring your cereal boxes (without the tops!) to Mrs. Thompson, as we still need some for art projects.

Middle School Conferences

Conferences for middle school students will be held Wednesday, February 20, and Friday, February 22. Students will not attend school on those days. Parents/guardians will be notified of their conference appointment; please make every effort to be there so we can strengthen the partnership between school and home.

Help Needed for Elementary Valentine's Party

A note from Mrs. Thompson: We need parents to help with the party and to bring supplies and treats! Please contact Mrs. Thompson or return the pink form your student should have brought home from school to help us make this a great party for our students!

Elementary Writers

A note from Mrs. Ward: Thank you to our 3rd-5th grade parents who attended last month’s SVLA Writing Workshops with Mrs. Ward. We are making plans to highlight at-home writing at an Author’s Tea the week before Spring Break. We look forward to seeing them share the writing pieces they’ve worked so hard on with you at home! Watch for more details in next month’s newsletter.

SVLA Adventure Academies

Help Needed to Launch K-5 World Cultures Club

We are excited to introduce our elementary World Cultures Club. This club will explore a new culture every Tuesday morning in March: 3/5; 3/12; 3/19; and 3/26. This activity is open to SVLA students in grades K-5. Sign up with Mrs. Pittenger in the office.


Our first club meeting will be: Japan Day on Tuesday, March 5th from 9:30-10:30am featuring kanji writing, Japanese greetings, sushi rolling, and a cherry blossom "sakura" craft. Japan Day will be co-hosted by Lily and Grant's mom, Shelley Bolton!


If you have cultural expertise you'd like to share in our World Cultures Club, there are three club meetings to plan. We would love to have your help. Please let Mrs. Ward know if you're interested in co-hosting or volunteering.

1-8 Health Science Focus Camp @ SVT

On Saturday, March 2nd, Spokane Valley Tech's HOSA students (future health professionals) will engage campers in a variety of activities that relate to health care and the medical field. This camp is open to current 1st-8th graders. Two sessions are available, 9:00-11:00 AM and 12:00-2:00 PM. The cost of camp is $30.00 per student. All funds raised will support HOSA.
