Mark your calendars for the 4th Grade Co-Ed Annual Basketball Tournament held in the Warren Central Fieldhouse on Friday, March 1st and 6:00 p.m. Please plan to attend and support our students and the Warren Arts and Education Foundation. Wednesday, March 6 - Monday, March 11 in the Media Center STOMP, CHOMP, and READ! Start saving your money! There will be lots of books for the whole family at the Spring book fair. Students will preview and fill out wish lists and shop during school hours. The fair will also be open during the Spring Carnival on Friday, March 8. Book Fair Flyers will be coming home soon. The online fair opens up on Feb 27 - March 12 if you’d like to shop for books online. Due to Spring Break, the books won’t be delivered until after April 2nd. We are in search of parent volunteers so if you’d like to help either during the day or during Lakeside’s Spring Carnival Book Fair Night, please contact Kathy Golten at kgolten@warren.k12.in.us

3rd graders will take the IREAD-3 Assessment during the week of March 11th - 15th. This is a critical statewide standardized assessment. The Indiana Reading Evaluation and Determination (IREAD-3) assessment measures foundational reading standards to Grade 3 students each spring. Based on the Indiana Academic Standards, IREAD-3 is a summative assessment that was developed in accordance with House Enrolled Act 1367 (also known as Public Law 109 in 2010). Mission Statement: The EXCEL Program is designed to meet the unique academic and affective needs of highly talented students through a cooperative, enriched, and accelerated academic program where each person feels significant and appreciated.

The curriculum in the EXCEL program is differentiated and faster paced. Students will work above grade level.

Healthy Smiles is coming to Lakeside elementary on Monday and Tuesday, March 11th and 12th. Healthy Smiles is a school-based dental program providing check-ups, cleaning, x-rays, and dental education among other things to students. All students are eligible for this service. information and registration forms were sent home with your child earlier this week. Please return these forms to the school clinic as soon as possible or by March 8th. If you have any questions regarding Healthy Smiles, please call 317-894-8370 or email at info@indysmiles.org.

Monday, June 3rd is Warren Township's last day of the regular school year (barring no further weather closings). This date has been extended due to the following weather closings: November 15th and January 30th. All students will be dismissed early on this day.

Grades K-4 will be dismissed at 2:30 pm

Grades 5 - 12 will be dismissed at 1:30 pm

NO SCHOOL March 18-29, 2019

We currently have many personal items in the Lost and Found bins located in the school clinic. Please check with your child and if they are missing any clothing, jackets, books, lunchboxes, or other personal items, please have them check our bins. Any item not claimed by the end of the year will be donated to a worthy charity.

It’s that time of year when we need to remind student to make sure they have appropriate clothing for recess. The district policy states students will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees. We have extra coats, hats, and gloves for students in need. Please contact the front office if you need assistance.

Students must go outside unless we have a doctor statement.

While we love to celebrate, please remember that there is a “no birthday treats “ guideline. Also, note that no birthday invitations are allowed to be distributed at school. It is school policy.

The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child’s school. This may include your child’s photo, your child’s name or your child’s work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child’s achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child’s school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
