Principal's Message
Week 9 is here, COVID case numbers are decreasing, and student return to campus is imminent. Superintendent Kuhlman sent out a message to families that the likely return date will be March 29th not March 22nd. Again, this is a target date and will depend on the COVID case numbers. It is my belief that we will get there and students will be able to return to campus for blended learning. The bell schedule will remain the same and students in cohorts will attend either Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday. We will continue with an asynchronous Friday. If you have questions please reach out an administrator. I'm looking forward to seeing our students as they get the opportunity to be on our beautfiul campus!

Class Registration
Our counselors have been busy seeing our current 9th and 10th grade students regarding class registration for next school year. They will be finishing up their class visits by Tuesday, March 9th. During their class visits they discussed A-G college admission requirements as well as guided students through the registration process. All students should make an appointment with their counselor to review their class requests.
If a student missed the video then it will be posted on our website, at www.castaichighschool.org, on Wednesday, March 10th.
Blended Learning Information
We recently sent out a message regarding cohort information. That message stated which cohort your student was in, which was Cohort A, Cohort B, or Online Only. Please make sure that you are aware of the cohort information so that we have a smooth return to campus.
Cohort A will return to campus on Mondays and Tuesdays, Cohort B will return to campus on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Online Only will remain at home. If you are interested in transportation from the city bus or from the district bus please fill out the following survey so we can work on getting transportation for our students.
Athletics Update
Cross Country was able to compete in a dual meet against Saugus HS. We had one student place second in the boys JV race. It was amazing to see our students out there competing! Please give Coach Martinez and our awesome Cross Country Coyotes a round of applause when you see them!
We have a lot of sports returning in the coming weeks. We will send out information as soon as we can. Please understand that information is changing daily as it pertains to youth sports. We may think we have the correct information and then it changes the next day. We want to make sure that we have our ducks in a row before we send out information so families are not receiving multiple messages from us. This week, we should have a clearer understanding of what direction we are heading. Thank you for your patience!
CrisisGo
Speaking of athletics, have you been receiving the daily CrisisGo emails? Parents should be receiving a daily email from CrisisGo. When it is complete please have your student take a screen shot of the final screen to show to his/her coach.
If your student is unable to do the screen shot then we will still accept the paper form that we began with or your student can do CrisisGo at the front gate. If you have any questions please reach out to an administrator.
Summer School Website
The Hart District summer school will be held during the month of July. Applications have been posted and students can begin applying if they are in need of making up credits. For more information, please speak with your counselor and check out the website.
Spotlight on Lizeth Ordonez
This week, I would like to highlight our registrar, Lizeth Ordonez. She has been a valuable asset in ensuring that our students are enrolled at Castaic HS, their transcripts are complete, and Infinite Campus is updated. These are just a few of the many things that she does to keep our school running. Mrs. Ordonez is very knowlegeable and brings a calm to the frenzy of enrolling students. Mrs. Ordonez is a true asset to our school!
