This afternoon, The Lake Doctors delivered some special new friends to the elementary school sensory garden. The pond now has six Comet Goldfish swimming around! Their colors are yellow, orange, red, white, and red-and-white. The Feeling Fish can help students in the sensory garden. Think of your mind like a pond full of fish and each fish is a feeling. Try to remember to be the pond! The Feeling Fish is the final big project by retired counselor Dawn Gasper.

What do the fish eat?

The Comet Goldfish eat floating fish pellets, shelled green peas, line redworms and freeze-dried shrimp.

Who takes care of the fish?

Technically, they should be fed daily but can survive the weekend without food. There are also automatic feeders to help out with weekends and holidays. Students will also assist with feeding.

The pond has monthly treatments from March to October. Once a month in the spring and twice a month in the summer when more cleaning is needed.

The fountain will be exchanged for a heater during the winter months, October to March.

The Lake Doctors provide all treatments to our LMES pond and will swap out the fountain for the heather soon. The Lake Doctors is an aquatic management company devoted to the stewardship of lakes and ponds.

The Little Miami High School Academic Team won the Miami Valley School Fall Kickoff Tournament this past Saturday! The victorious Panthers defeated some of the top teams in the region to win the championship, including Somerset (KY), Benjamin Logan, Indian Hill, Walnut Hills, Tippecanoe, Miami Valley & Beavercreek. The team is off to a fantastic start with even more success planned this season."

This Veterans Day, LMMS, LMHS and AFROTC students will set up a field of American flags to honor America’s veterans and raise critical funds to support our ill and injured heroes. Each flag in the Field of Flags honors a different veteran. Behind each flag is a unique story about courage and freedom. A story about sacrifice: it's a story worth honoring.

The podcast is called WoodHenge, named after the ancient, fossilized structures buried under Little Miami High School. There are woodhenges worldwide, similar to stonehenges, but it's believed that the woodhenge buried under LM was left during the Hopewell era.

The point of the podcast's name is to show that we are "uncovering" the truth about Little Miami High School, just like woodhenge was uncovered!

The Warren County Career Center wants to hear from you. The administration and management team are in the process of developing a 5-year strategic plan to help us guide the career center forward. An important component of the plan is capturing input from all of our stakeholders, including staff, alumni, students, the business council, and parents.

The results of this survey will be analyzed only in aggregate, meaning individual responses will be anonymous. The more people who participate, the more accurate the data will be. Despite significant student enrollment growth over the last ten years, LM has strategically stretched out the funds generated by the passage of the 2011 Emergency Levy for more than ten years. This funding represents one-fifth of LM’s total operating budget and is a vital piece of the district’s financial health. These funds were renewed in November 2020.

However, with continued enrollment growth and increased demand for student support, a request for new funds will need to be made of the community in the near future.

Ohio public school districts are required by law to prepare a five-year forecast of projected expenditures revenues twice a year. As reported in the May 2023 Five Year Projections, a revenue shortfall is expected in FY2024.

LMHS hosts registration opportunities during lunch throughout the year to register and utilizes time during Government class to assist eligible & interested students.
