Principal's Message
In an effort to respect those who do not participate in Halloween and those that do, I am asking that no student wear any part of their Halloween costume to school on Monday, October 31st.
I would like to have students show some school spirit by wearing Holliman attire, Holliman colors or fall colors (orange and black). Also please avoid sending students to school with excessive amounts of candy or candy that contains peanuts. Until further notice, Holliman is a peanut free school.
I wish all who participate in Halloween activities, a safe and fun evening!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cabana, Principal

Important Messages from our PTA!
Message from Ms. Greene Math Intervention Specialist
some children can be successful at math, or that math is some sort of a “gift” that some
children have and some do not. This idea permeates American (and other) societies but
it has been completely disproved by the science of the brain and learning. The idea that
some children can do well in math and some can’t is a damaging myth that is harmful to
children’s mathematical development."
This quote is powerful and illustrates how a positive mindset can truly impact your child's ability in mathematics. I have linked the full article below which has great suggestions for parents and how they can best support their students.
STEM is coming to Holliman and how you can help!!!!
In the coming weeks STEM bins/carts will be available for classroom teachers to sign out for their classrooms. Some of the items in the bins are disposable items and easily replaceable. Listed below are items that we will need on an ongoing basis and if you can help donate these items, it would be greatly appreciated. Some items are not disposable but you may have in your house and are looking to purge (LEGO bricks, dominoes, wood blocks, magnetic tiles, Lincoln logs, etc).

A BIG thank you to the Kilgore family for the first donation. It was greatly appreciated!

Let's do good together for our Holliman families and the community!
Starting Tuesday November 1st bring in some canned goods to donate to our school food pantry! We will use this to create baskets for our families in need and send them home for the Thanksgiving holiday with a great feast! Any extra will be placed in our school food pantry and any above and beyond will be donated to local community food banks.
Last year we donated close to 1,000 cans to Project Hand Up, an organization that provides food to not only our community of Warwick, but anyone in RI that needs food. They are also a food rescue, saving food from being wasted and getting it to individuals who would otherwise go without it! For $6.00 at Project Handup you can get roughly $200.00 worth of groceries! They are for anyone in need, so everyone can access this great resource. If you haven't heard of them check them out! We were also able to make and send home 16 baskets, 8 for Thanksgiving and 8 for winter break for Holliman families in need and put some in our food pantry! Let's do it again this year!! As we get closer be on the lookout for grade specific donations! For now any canned goods will do!!
If you are a family that needs our help please don't be shy! Contact Mrs. Bonneau, Miss Linda, Mrs. Cabana, Mr. D'Aiello, or Mrs. Votto if you need something! We're happy to help!!
