Lake Travis High School will offer an opportunity for students to take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) during the school day on November 14, 2023 in the morning. Students will be excused from 5th and 6th periods, if they choose to participate. This is a career and aptitude exam and is open to all students, not just military bound students. Any student Grades 10 - 12 may sign up to take the ASVAB. There are 105 slots available.

This exam is administered by members of the Armed Services and is an optional exam. Testing accommodations are not provided by LTHS for this exam.

The sign up deadline is November 3, 2023.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION/REMINDERS

Early Voting for the Bond is open through Fri., Nov. 3rd. The hours are Monday-Saturday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from noon to 6:00 PM. at Bee Cave City Hall, the EDC and the Lakeway Activity Center.

Cavalette 24-25 dance team auditions are Nov. 30th. The mandatory informational meeting is October 30th in the Recital Hall. More information can be found on the Cavalette Instagram page and website.

Transition Night 2023 - Creating a Roadmap to Independence

Tuesday, November 14th from 5:30-8:30pm at the Lake Travis High School Main Cafeteria.

We invite you for an evening of informational sessions centered around helping our children with disabilities move toward independence in life after high school.

Parents of students who receive services through Special Education and 504 are encouraged to attend! Participants will be able to choose from several sessions providing information such as college planning, agency contacts, post-secondary support groups, job training, and more. Confirmed Presenters include student support services from several universities across Texas, Project SEARCH, Goodwill Industries, Texas Workforce Commission's Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Bloom Consulting, Integral Care and more! Specific sessions to be published prior to November 14th.

Food deliveries not allowed: Just a reminder that we do not allow food deliveries (DoorDash, Favor, Uber Eats, etc.) for students. Parents are welcome to drop off food for their child, but deliveries for students will not be accepted.

STUDENT CELEBRATIONS

This past Saturday four members of the LTHS Sailing Team participated in the SEISA (Southeastern Intercollegiate Sailing Association) Keel Boat Regional Qualifier Regatta. The team won all five races, unprecedented.

They advance to the ISSA Keel Boat Invitational (national championship) at St. Petersburg Yacht Club in St. Petersburg, FL December 9-10 .

Team members: James Brock, Ryder Getson, Lily Wind, and Laura Covington.

Congratulations to the Cavalier Band for getting fourth place at the 6A UIL Area contest! They are State Bound!

23-24 FINAL EXAM EXEMPTIONS PROCEDURES

Juniors and Seniors are eligible to earn TWO final exam exemptions by adhering to the requirements listed on this document. These exemptions apply to the spring semester only. All students must take all midterm exams in December. Additionally, freshmen and sophomores are not eligible exam exemptions.

How to earn an Exemption:

Grades: Must have a year-long average of an 85% or above for the specific class you are wanting to exempt. Grades will be calculated by averaging SM1, RC3, and the RC4 average as of May 3rd at 5:00pm.

Attendance: Students cannot owe any hours for attendance in order to be exempt from final exams. All owed hours must be completed by May 3rd.

Honor Code: No Tier 2 or Tier 3 honor code violations. Students with a Tier 2 violation cannot exempt the class for which the violation occurred. Students with a Tier 3 violation cannot exempt any classes. This includes additional AP exam exemptions.

AP Classes: Students enrolled in an AP class may earn an additional exemption if they meet all of the exemption requirements listed above and take the AP exam. This exemption applies to sophomores as well.

OnRamps/ACC Classes: Students enrolled in OnRamps/ACC classes will not be able to use an exemption for these classes due to exams being conducted by the college institution prior to the end of the semester. Any additional work required by the teacher in OnRamps classes beyond the UT Final Exam must be completed and cannot be exempted.

Exemption Defined: Exempt from the Exam does not mean exempt from attending school.

Failure to attend school during the scheduled exam time will result in the student forfeiting his/her exemption and result in a zero for the exam grade if the student does not complete the makeup exam on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

More information will be shared in the Spring, including the exemption form that will require signatures from teachers, parents, and the student.

ATTENDANCE

Skyward Family Access Absence Entry: Parents can now enter future absences into Skyward Family Access. This short video will provide you with instructions on how to enter an absence for your child. Once you log into Skyward Family Access, select the “Attendance” tile to enter an absence.

Documentation such as doctors notes for absences can also be uploaded through Skyward. To do this, please log into Skyward Family Access and select the tile labeled “Attendance Documents Upload”. This form will allow you to upload supporting documentation for absences.

Any absences or early release requests submitted for the same day will be accepted prior to 2:00 pm through Skyward. Students will not be released after 3:40 pm until dismissal at 4:10 pm. All supporting documentation must be received within 3 days after the student returns to school.
