Dear Highland Park Family,


I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I am beyond thankful for our students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, caregivers, community members, and everyone who calls the district home. I am grateful to work in such a supportive community that deeply cares about our students. You help make our school system a great place to teach and learn.


We are a student-centered school community and, with that in mind, I would also like to encourage all of us, parents, guardians and educators, to celebrate the students in our lives this Thanksgiving season. The changes and adversity we are all still experiencing this year has been especially hard on our children and youth. So, no matter what your holiday celebrations look like this season, please take time to acknowledge and encourage the students in your family.


Be inspired by the season of giving with acts of kindness and graciousness. I wish you health and peace this Thanksgiving.

HPMUNC

Congratulations to our Model UN students on their successful trip to Montreal. They visited a Montréal high school to exchange ideas, toured historical and cultural sites throughout the city, met Montréal’s US Consul General, and competed in the Secondary Schools UN Symposium. On top of that, a quarter of the team was also recognized for their debating skills with awards. Most importantly, they represented their school and country in a kind, thoughtful, and curious manner.

Hurricane Ian Donations

Thank you to those who attended the ice cream social at Bartle last week. As you can see from the picture, Ms. Fuller and Ms. Bender were very pleased at the abundance of donations! We appreciate the support of our PTO!

Mallory's Army

Last week, student and parents had the opportunity to attend a presentation called Mallory's Army. This anti-bullying presentation was powerful and moving. We received an overwhelmingly positive response that Ms. Baldizzone will be coordinating a screening of the movie this winter.

Irving Playground

The new playground structures at Irving are already starting to take shape! We are so excited to provide a new and modern play space for the students and community.

Later Start Time - Schedule Updates

The Central Leadership Team will be meeting on Monday, November 21st to discuss a couple of proposals for school start times that are aligned with transportation needs. The outcome of this discuss will inform our next step(s).
