World Langauge Week
During the first week of March, the Spanish and French clubs sponsored a weeklong celebration of languages and cultures. Throughout the week, students enjoyed a number of different activities that promoted active learning and curiosity about the world. The school kicked off the week with an international flag hunt, which required students to find a world flag, and identify the country and the language spoken there. The next day featured a build the Eiffel tower out of marshmallows and toothpicks competition, and a French monument guessing activity. On Wednesday, students signed up to learn how to dance typical dances from Latin America, including salsa, merengue, bachata and the salsa choke. On Thursday, homerooms competed in an international trivia contest, and students stayed after school to learn how to cook Chasha Momo, traditional Tibetan dumplings. The week culminated in a Cultural EGGspert event, that challenged students to answer questions about cultural etiquette, customs, and traditions. Some of the questions asked students to reflect about the complex nature of intercultural interactions. Throughout the week, students participated in an international door decorating contest, that inspired homerooms to represent another country on their classroom doors. Mrs. Luppachino- Gilson’s homeroom took the prize for the best decorations for their representation of Egypt, while the second and third place prizes went to Mr. Zawacki’s and Mr. Lucas’ homerooms’ representations of France and Germany. A number of students deserve to be acknowledged for their outstanding leadership and support, especially Eshani Karkun and Delaney Russell, who were the co-chairs who organized all of the Spanish club sponsored events, and Jaelyn Taylor, Tori Schiavoni, Kira Roloff, Hannah Briere, and Riley Flatley, who helped make the French club activities shine. Amber Murphy, Samantha Kearney and Rileigh Govoni created a beautiful wall display to teach students how to greet others in different languages while Valentina Morales taught students how to dance the salsa choke during the X-block dance workshop. Overall, many students contributed to and participated in this very festive celebration.

Thinking about career planning… Take a moment to read below:
Throughout the past two years, covid has impacted what education, college and career exploration opportunities were available - we are putting feelers out to all students in grades 10, 11 and 12 regarding the ASVAB Career Exploration Program. Now more than ever, students will benefit from robust career exploration as they plan to step out into a changed world.
It's not just a military test! The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is the only career planning resource that enables students to explore multiple paths to post-secondary success --college, certificates, apprenticeships, licensure programs, and the Military - in one place. The ASVAB CEP encourages students to explore a wide variety of career options rather than limiting their exploration by telling them what they can or should do. The program promotes career literacy through exposure to the requirements of entering over 1100 specific fields as well as the variety of approaches that can be taken. The program also provides both numerous resources and experienced educators to schools and students at no cost. The materials used in the program meet the National Standards for School Counseling Programs set forth by the American School Counselors Association (ASCA) and the Career Development Competencies established by the National Career Development Association (NCDA).
To those parents that have already expressed interest, THANK YOU. Please email or parent square Mrs. Sullivan (ksullivan@easthamptonct.org ) if you are interested in having your child take the ASVAB. Please note that at this time we have not yet scheduled a date- we will compile interest through Feb. 23rd.

2021-2022--EHHS Yearbook Information
It’s time to pre-order your 2021-2022 East Hampton High School Yearbook! The Yearbook Club has been hard at work making sure this year’s book captures all the wonderful activities and happenings around school that we have missed out on with the past two turbulent years. Parents! We are also beginning our Parent Ad sales which allow you to purchase an ⅛, ¼, ½, or full-page advertisement in the yearbook to dedicate to your student. Student Attendance and Dismissal Reminders
Recently we have been having some issues with student dismissals from school and in particular, being dismissed due to illness without first going to the nurse. We ask that parents familiarize themselves with our attendance policy which is in the EHHS Student Handbook. Some of the main policies/procedures that we are asking for parents’ to help in adhering to are.
- EARLY DISMISSALS: A written request (no phone calls) from a parent or guardian must be presented to the main office before school begins so student may obtain an early dismissal slip. Students will wait in the main office for their parent/guardian to call the office and we will send your child out to meet you after they sign-out.
- NURSE DISMISSALS: In case of illness during school, dismissal will be arranged through the school nurse, or in her absence, through the office. Students feeling ill should report directly to the nurse's office. Students should not be texting or calling home when not feeling well.
Please note that having a parent’s written request before the start of the day allows the students name to appear on the Daily Attendance sheet so their teachers will be aware that they may not be in class on that day. This also eliminates the office staff from calling in and disrupting a classroom to dismiss the student. We do realize that there may be occasions when you may need to unexpectedly pick your child up early. In those cases we will call the student down when the parent/guardian arrives to the school
