Support Cowles Local
CMPG wants to bring more awareness to businesses that are operated by Cowles Families with the hope that we will support local Cowles industries year round.
Visit SupportCowles.com to view the businesses and what they have to offer. Support these businesses between now and the end of 2020 and they will donate a portion of sales back to Cowles School.

Heart Of The Matter
Dear Cowles parents/guardians:
While we are temporarily in the virtual mode, please remember to continue to notify the school when your child is feeling ill. We would all like to return to Hybrid learning and eventually 100% in person as soon as possible, but it's important we maintain a healthy environment for our students and staff to return to. For this to happen, we need to know if:
- Your child is feeling ill
- Your child is being tested for Covid-19
- Your child tested positive for Covid-19 and has been told to isolate
- You have a positive Covid-19 case in your household
- Your child has been exposed to a positive Covid-19 person
- Your child has been identified as a close contact and has been told to quarantine
Please call the main office at 242-7818. If you have questions about how long to isolate, quarantine, or if your child has been exposed and is a close contact, please ask to have the nurse call you. You can also email me at ann.humphrey@dmschools.org or you can book a virtual appointment with me HERE.
Communication will be critical in order to reopen our schools safely and as quickly as possible. We will all need to work together.
OTHER REMINDERS:
October and November were busy months. Vision screens on our hybrid preschool, kindergarten and 3rd grade students were completed as well as dental screens on our kindergarteners and height/weights on our preschool students.
A current preschool physical is required for preschool enrollment each year for licensure. If you have not turned one into me, please do so asap.
A dental screen/exam is required for all Kindergarteners from age 3-6 years of age. If you have not submitted a completed form to me, please do so by December 15th. Contact me if you have any questions. Thank you.
FREE MEALS: Cowles will not be a virtual meal site starting Monday, November 16th -30th. Please find a location that is convenient for you for pick up. If you have a special diet, please contact Anita Turczynski, RDN, LD, DMPS Food Service Dietitian at 515-242-7636 and she can help you. Thank you. Remember these are meals for ages 1-18 years of age. No ID required. HERE.
Food Bank of Iowa: I am attaching this great resource for our Cowles Montessori School families. Our pick-up location is Meredith Reformed Church, 5128 Meredith Dr., Wed: 11:30a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Please see attached document for the other 13 locations located throughout the city.
Kindness Challenge: This month the Kindness Elves would like to challenge you to donate to a homeless shelter HERE or donate to the Food Bank of Iowa. Why donate to a food bank?
As Thanksgiving approaches, we pause to think about all that we are thankful for. Even though Thanksgiving in 2020 might not look like in years past, I am truly grateful for all that I have this year. I am especially thankful for our wonderful Cowles Montessori School family. Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. Hope for the holiday.
Be well! Stay safe!
