Cougar Parents Weekly Newsletter
Week of Monday, Jan 8th - Friday, Jan 12th, 2024
Principal's Message
Good afternoon Cougar families! I hope you all enjoyed the break! We are excited to welcome our students back.
Here is important information for the week of January 8th.
Starting Monday, we will have a new daily schedule. This change was necessary in order to better meet the needs of all our students. This change may affect the time your child goes to lunch. Please make sure you reach out to your child's teacher if you plan on eating lunch with your child to make sure you have the correct time.
Monday, January 8th, report cards will be available through Parent Portal. We will also send a paper copy home with your child. Please take the time to review your child's progress, sign and return the report cards, and contact his/her teachers if you have any questions or concerns.
Due to a new policy, we need all parents to complete a Model Release form. An explanation of the new policy as well as a link can be found at the following link: https://middlesexes.ncpschools.net/o/mes/page/model-release-forms. You will also receive a paper copy of the Model Release form Monday. Parents now must Opt-In for the school to use their child's pictures. If parents do not complete the form, either online or on paper, we will not be able to post or share pictures of your child. This includes posting to Facebook, the school website, or use for the yearbook. If the forms are not returned, that means you have Opted Out and you do not want the school to use any pictures of your child. Please review the form, and take the time to complete this as soon as possible.
We are looking forward to starting the second semester of the 23-24 school year! Have a great evening and we will see you in the morning!

Bell Schedule
Students may begin being dropped off at 7:20 AM
First Bell 7:40 AM
Morning Announcements 8:00 AM
Dismissal 3:00
**In order for students to be counted present, students may not be check-in later than 10:20 a.m or check-out earlier than 12:40 p.m.
**No student check-outs will be allowed after 2:30 PM
Student Arrival Procedure
- Pre-K students are dropped off at the side door in the bus parking lot. Please park your car, and sign your student in each morning.
- Student drop-off may begin at 7:20 AM. Students arriving between 7:20 AM and 7:40 AM will report to the cafeteria and sit in their assigned grade-level area. At 7:40 AM, students will report to their homeroom class. Any student arriving after 7:40 AM will eat breakfast in the cafeteria (breakfast is optional) and report to their homeroom class afterward. Breakfast will end at 7:55 AM.
- Please remember at 7:55, the staff enters the building. If you bring your child to school and there is no staff member at the front of the school, you need to walk your child into the school. We want the students to be safe, and if there is no adult to supervise, the parent needs to walk into the office to check the child in.
Bus Rider Drop-Off
- Bus students arriving before 7:40 AM will report to the cafeteria and sit in their assigned grade-level area. When bus students arrive on campus after 7:40 AM, they will eat breakfast in the cafeteria (breakfast is optional) and report to their homeroom class.
Student Dismissal Procedures
Car Rider Pick Up
Begin dismissal procedures at 3:00 PM.
Car rider students will sit by grade level in the hallway by the front office until their name is called over the radio.
Parents will pick up students in the car line. (Do not park and pick up students)
- Please make sure you are making a double line while you wait for school to dismiss. Please pull all the way up to where the caller stands in the afternoons. The caller will alternate cars when calling students names. We are trying to get as many cars off the main street as possible, and this will help.

We'd like to say a special thank you to Tiffany Wooten, who had been serving as our dedicated treasurer. Tiffany has decided to step down from her role to devote more time to her family. WE wholeheartedly understand and support her decision because, at MES, we truly believe that family comes first. Tiffany's commitment and contributions as treasurer have been invaluable, and we extend our sincere thanks for her hard work and dedication.
As we bid farewell to Tiffany, we are actively seeking a new treasurer to join our team. If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out to Christy Walters at middlesex.pto.ncps@gmail.com. Your commitment will help ensure the continued success of our school PTO.
As always, your support and involvement are vital to the success of our school. We encourage you to stay engaged, attend events, and join us in creating a positive and fun experience for our students and staff!
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to making the rest of this school year a fantastic experience for all!
