Community Engagement for Facilities: Announcing New Webpage
Dear Community,
The Los Altos School District Board of Trustees and I hope you have been having an enjoyable summer. It is hard to believe the 2019/20 school year is just around the corner!
As you may already know, in early May, the LASD Board of Trustees and the Bullis Charter School Board of Directors signed an Interim 2-Year Facilities Agreement to house BCS at its current locations at Blach and Egan with an enrollment cap of 1,111 students. This agreement spans the 2019/20 and 2020/21 school years and will give our community the time it needs to provide input on a long term facilities plan.
Shortly after the agreement was signed, the LASD Board engaged with MIG, an expert consultancy in community engagement, and launched a formal community engagement process to allow constituents a platform to share ideas regarding a long term plan to house BCS, protect academic excellence in LASD, and provide great educational opportunities for all students in our community. Since the end of the 2018/19 school year, a project team including LASD staff and MIG have been working hard to ensure the community engagement process is on track.
We have launched a new Community Engagement Webpage, which contains an initial timeline for the Community Engagement Process. We will keep you posted as we add more information to the site and schedule events this summer and fall.
We invite you to participate in the Community Engagement Process to learn the history regarding facilities allocations for BCS, to share perspectives and generate ideas for a long term facilities plan to benefit all local students. If you have questions or comments to share, please email communityengagement@lasdschools.org.
Sincerely,
Jessica Speiser, President
Los Altos School District Board of Trustees
