By the time we send our next and final newsletter of the 2022-23 school year, our seniors will have graduated!

Please read on for information leading up to the end of the school year.

May 23: Class of 2023 Decision Day at JCHS, 10am

May 23: Senior Awards Ceremony, 6pm

May 25: Graduation Rehearsal at JCHS (Seniors and faculty)

May 26: Graduation Rehearsal at JCHS (Seniors and faculty)

May 29: Memorial Day (no school)

May 30: last day for seniors/graduation at EagleBank Arena; early dismissal school day for JCHS (dismissal at 1:18pm)

June 2: last day for underclassman credit recovery and quarter 4 work

June 5: Underclassmen Awards Ceremony

June 8: last day of school

Vaccinations for Current Juniors/Rising Seniors

All rising seniors are required to show proof of vaccination prior to the start of the 2023-24 school year. The requirement is one dose of the meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY, Menactra, or Menveo) given at age 16 or older. Please note: Men B, Bexsero, and Trumenba are not the same as MenACWY.

Two faculty members were recognized at the May faculty meeting for their wonderful contributions to JCHS. Congratulations and sincere appreciation go to: Ms. Coniglio for her work as our Interim Director of Counseling and Ms. Behzani for her steadfast care for and support of student learning as one of our valued teaching assistants. Thank you both for all you do!

Thank you for your Teacher Appreciation Week Support!

On behalf of the PTSA, thank you to all parents and community members who helped the PTSA coordinate and provide a wonderful breakfast and lunch for JCHS staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. The staff truly enjoyed all you provided. The time and care you took was noticed!

Virginia Parents, apply for K-12 Tutoring Grants

Virginia parents are now able to access the K-12 Learning Acceleration grant application through a secure online portal.Once approved, parents will have access to a list of vetted, pre-approved teachers as tutors, tutoring services, and providers of assistive technologies. Find out more here.

Underclassmen: Keep volunteering and look for your service assignments to submit your hours at the end of May.

Theatre Boosters Fundraiser: now through June 1

Athletics

Playoffs are underway! Cheer on Varsity Softball Monday, May 22 at Patriot; Track is on Tuesday, May 23 at Woodbridge; Track and potentially Girls Lacrosse Wednesday, May 24; Softball on Thursday, May 25.

College signing/recognition for JCHS Athletics is on Friday, May 26 at 4:30pm in the JCHS Auditorium.
