Reflections from Pastor Jennifer
Merry Christmas! If you have already spent time with family or friends, I hope that you had a great time. If you are spending time with them later today, have fun and be safe. If, for whatever reason, you haven't been able to be with family for friends, I pray that next year will be different. This season is a reminder that God's promises come in unexpected ways. This year may not have gone the way you planned, but there is new life in Christ!
Thank you to everyone who advertised, invited people, prepared, helped set up, and attended the community movie night. It was so much fun, and we will plan to do it again soon.
5th Sunday
Next Sunday, December 31, is the 5th Sunday of the month and the last Sunday of the year. Rather than regular service, we will be having a delicious breakfast followed by a devotion. You won't want to miss it!
January Focus
OCC
Let's start off the year strong by bringing items for Operation Christmas Child. The suggested item for the month of January is something warm, such as a hat, scarf, or gloves. Remember that these are only suggestions. You are welcome to bring another item, a shoebox, or provide money for shipping.
A Glimpse of Love - A Gift
Do you remember the moment? That excitement that welled up within, as you ran with eagerness to open the presents. Some you knew about, some you didn't.
There is great joy in opening an amazing gift, isn't there?
Do you remember the moment? The anticipation that you had in knowing the joy that would result from the gift you had brought being opened? There seems to be a greater joy in watching a great gift that you've given being opened.
The Magi, drawn by a glimpse of light, a star in the sky, knelt down before the King and presented their gifts.
Their amazing gifts, presented, were nothing in comparison to the gift that was before them—the gift of God's great love for us, wrapped up in a manger.
There is an invitation to you and I to witness the greatness of God's love for us at this time. And our response to this is to lay down gifts of worship before God.
But there is also an encouragement to you and I to be people who get to watch other people open up a great gift.
We're invited into the story, to share the story of God's great love for His world with the world around us. And as we do, we get to witness with joy, this glimpse of light transforming those around us.
REFLECTION QUESTION:
Who can you share this gift of love with during this season?
What practical things could you do to extend this love?
