Greetings MVLA Families!!

School starts July 20th for students NEW to MVLA. While there may be a few existing students who show up, this is really a time for NEW students. The existing students who come will be put to work on helping our new students adapt.

The Wheel Spin will happen on July 29th.

AES Time will be on Thursdays during at 12:25pm with Mrs. Binkley.

Students will not get their schedules until they come to school. We will go over those schedules with them here.

Finally, I only send out newsletters once a month or so, so please check back with our website at mvla.lcps.net for upcoming events and other information. We try to keep that updated as often as possible.

Since we have a very small parking lot, there is not a lot of room for a long line of cars. It really eases congestion to have a pick up schedule. If you would please do your best to follow this, it will help quite a bit.

If your last name starts with:

A-G - You will pick up your student from 3:10 to 3:20.

H-N - Please pick up between 3:20 and 3:30

0 -Z- Your time would be between 3:30 and 3:40.

Of course, if this does not work for you we will accommodate everyone the best we can. Please just keep in mind if everyone shows up at once, there is often a back up clear down Lohman.

As the school year progresses, we will also have after school programs that last until 4:30 or 5:00. That will also decrease congestion a bit.

If you have already purchased supplies for kiddos, thank you so much for that. If you have not and have been stressing about getting it all, fret not. Thankfully, the District has informed us that we will be able to provide students with everything they need. Below is the official list of all we ask that students bring with them.

Some of you have already expressed interest in signing up for PTO or the School Advisory Committee. If you are still interested, please fill out the following Google Form.

Unless the group indicates another time, we will try to have our PTO meetings on the third Thursday of each month.

1. We would like to start a MVLA 4H club, but we need a volunteer to head that up. If you're interested, please let us know as soon as possible so we can get that started.

3. We are also ALWAYS looking for volunteers to run My Times and if you would like to sign up for next year, I will take your information now. We can get your volunteer packet completed over the Summer.

Students are only allowed to use their cell phones before school, at lunch and after school. If you need to speak to your child or get a message to your child during the day, please call the front office at 527-6059 and we will get the message to your student.

If your child does not feel well, please tell them they need to come see the nurse and she will contact you if they need to be picked up. Students should not be calling or texting parents during the day unless it is from the office with an adult present.

Cell phones can be a huge distraction at school and we need your help to address this very real problem.

We still have an excess of consumable workbooks. If you would like to pick one (or some) up to use to keep your skills sharp, just let me know and we will get you some.

Also, we are working to ensure your students have access to tutoring whenever they may need it. Students from Arrowhead have set up a tutoring service that is a first come first serve basis. I'm including the link here to make sure our kiddos have that first opportunity if they would like it:

Our Safety Drills have been set for the entire year. Here are the dates of all of our drills if you want to discuss them with your kiddos ahead of time to help them prepare. We will do this at school of course, but the added reassurance from parents is often helpful.
