Good morning, JLS Mustang Families!
This special edition of our Mustang Messenger is to provide you with information regarding our Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) testing that will be happening next week for our Mustangs.
Please read the information below, especially the slide content that gives you and your Mustang some tips to best prepare for this important testing experience to support our English and Mathematics educators in providing our students with quality support to continuously progress in their academic achievement. We will see some of you in the building today as part of our Bring Your Parent To School Day (Fall Edition) if you signed up to attend. I will be at an event today for all middle school principals in another building, but our amazing assistant principals, deans, and main office/house staff will be on site to welcome you alongside our fantastic Mustang educational professionals.

Virginia Growth Assessment Testing This Week
Students in grades 6-8 will take the Virginia Department of Education’s Growth Assessments in reading and math this week. Test dates for this week will be Reading on Tuesday, December 5 and Math on Wednesday, December 6. The online growth assessments are adaptive assessments that aid teachers with identifying learning strands that require additional instruction. Students will take these tests in addition to the spring Standards of Learning (SOL) tests.
We will operate on the adjusted bell schedule below.
Encourage your students to get a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast prior to testing and to arrive at school with their Chromebooks fully charged the day of testing.
