Weekly Parent Update

We had another wonderful week here at Hagood. Students completed MAP testing and we celebrated our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Gandy and our Support Employee of the Year, Mrs. Hendon! We are looking forward to our first Open House on Thursday, September 28th, 4-6 pm. Please plan to come see what students have been working on daily. We will also host another a Volunteer Training the night of Open House, at 5:30 pm in our library.

Please make sure to see the calendar below for special school dates/events for the month of October! We have several exciting things planned for students and families.

Important Reminders:

If your child attends Good News Club and you do not want them to attend on a particular Monday. Please send a note with your child stating you do not want them to go to Good News Club for the afternoon. While students do try to communicate that with their teachers; for safety purposes, we must hear from a parent/guardian about transportation/afternoon dismissal changes. Thank you!
Parents of After School Care students - Due to Good News Club on Monday afternoons and YAMS that will be starting soon on Tuesday afternoons, please plan to drive around the line, park, and ring the doorbell at the cafeteria entrance for ASC pick-up. We apologize for any inconvenience with traffic. By passing the line and parking, this should allow for a quicker, more timely pick-up as routine for ASC students.

Important Dates:

Good News Club is every Monday afternoon, 2:15-3:45 pm. Pick-up in the car loop.

YAMS Parent Meeting - Tuesday, September 26th, 5-6 pm in the Cafeteria.
1st YAMS Student Session - Tuesday, October 3rd

Hagood OPEN HOUSE - Thursday, September 28th, 4-6 pm
Volunteer Training during Open House - Thursday, September 28th, 5:30-5:50 pm, Location- Hagood Library

10/20 - 2nd Grade Testing Ends, 2nd Grade Swim Begins

10/23 - Book Fair Opens (open all week), Spirit Week Begins- Wear Red Day

10/24 - Crazy Hair and Sock Day

10/25 - Wear Sunglasses and a Neon shirt

10/26 - Wear a University or College shirt

10/27 - Book Parade, Book Fair Ends, Spirit Week Ends -Dress up with your class for Book Character Day (each homeroom will choose a class book, teachers to communicate with parents by Oct. 2)

A Note from our Nurse:

All Parents of K3-5th Grade,

Please provide a change of clothing (season appropriate) in your child's backpack for any need that may arise during the school day. There are times that they may spill food/drink, soil their clothing from an unforeseen accident, etc. It will help lessen your child missing class time and a call home waiting for clothing to arrive to school. Thank you for helping your children succeed during their time at Hagood!
