Colin Powell Academy News
Week Of Sept. 18-22, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. As we continue to honor the legacy of the late General Colin Powell, we are excited to involve the entire school community, both students and parents, in an important decision-making process – choosing our school mascot!
A school mascot embodies our collective identity, values, and the spirit of our educational institution. We have carefully selected four mascot options, each with its unique symbolism:
The Cadet: Representing leadership, discipline, and a commitment to personal and collective development, much like General Colin Powell's dedication to his military service and education.
The Rhino: Symbolizing strength, support, and resilience, the Rhino aligns with our school's model of supporting our students on their educational journey.
The Dove: A universal symbol of peace and tranquility, reflecting our commitment to maintaining a peaceful and inclusive learning environment.
The Elephant: Often associated with wisdom, memory, and strong community bonds, it represents our commitment to fostering a sense of unity and nurturing a positive school culture.
Now, we want your voice to be heard! We believe that involving our school community in this decision will make our mascot even more meaningful. Voting will end Sept. 30, 2023.
Here's how you can participate:
Voting: We will be conducting a school-wide vote to determine our official mascot. Students and parents will have the opportunity to cast their votes, ensuring that this decision represents our collective spirit.
Teacher and Parent Input: Our teachers will also be discussing these mascot options in their classrooms, allowing students to learn more about the symbolism behind each choice. We encourage you to discuss the options with your child and provide your feedback.
We believe that together, we can make an informed and meaningful choice that embodies the values and aspirations of our school community.
Please select the google form below and vote. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to share your thoughts. We value your input and look forward to making this important decision together as a school community.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school's journey.
Sincerely,
Ms. Lattimore, Principal
