Coping With Anxiety
Happy October!
October 31st we will see many goblins and ghouls make their appearance and fright may be all around us! For some of us however, we feel anxious all year round.
Anxiety is affecting more and more kids and teens. These feelings can really impact home, school, friends, and almost every aspect of life. The Anxiety Disorders Association of America has put together some great information about what anxiety is, the different types of anxiety disorders, and how to recognize anxiety in kids and teens.
If you or someone you love is suffering from anxiety, please take a few minutes and read the attached article. Anxiety Disorders in Children published by the Anxiety Disorders Association of America. https://adaa.org/sites/default/files/Anxiety%20Disorders%20in%20Children.pdf

NEW TEACHER HIGHLIGHTS
Michelle Dana, Lower Elementary Teacher
Michelle Dana has been a believer in the Montessori method of educating children for over twenty years! She worked at Montessori schools in Utah and California for several years and then set up her own Montessori classroom at home while her four boys were young. Michelle finished her degree and taught in the Department of Defense schools while living in Guam.
Michelle's family was able to travel around Asia and the Pacific while they lived in Guam and this increased her passion for travel and geography. When not in the classroom you can find her reading, doing logic puzzles, watching historical documentaries, or hiking.
Michelle loves working at Mountain West Montessori Academy, and she loves the ideal of making a Montessori education available in a public-school setting. She firmly believes in the potential of every child!
Richard Dougan, MS Teacher
Richard Dougan teaches the Middle School CTE classes--Career and College Awareness, Family & Consumer Science, and Keyboarding. Richard will also be teaching a Computer Science elective second semester. Richard's degree is in Electronics and Computer Science from Utah Valley University.
