Safety is our Priority
The staff and students responded extremely well and we are very proud of all of them all. We encourage you to talk with your child about our drills and what they learned. As you know, the safety and security of our students, staff, and campus are of the utmost importance to us.
If you have any questions regarding any of our safety drills or other safety concerns, please contact the school office at 281-641-1500.
Thank you,
Cindy Barker, Principal
Samantha Morgenroth, Assistant PrincipalStudent Attendance
To avoid absences being marked as unexcused, parents must notify the school that their child is absent. Parents must provide the parent note to the campus within 48 hours of the student’s return to school. If your child is out due to an appointment, please submit a doctor's note to the office, so that coding in eSchool can be updated accurately.
Absences can be reported each time your child is absent by:
- Online Absence Excuse Form
- Absence Line available (24 hours) 281-641-1519
- Excuse note returned with student following absence and given to the front office
- E-mail to our Attendance Specialist at: carolyn.quinn@humbleisd.net
Students arriving after 8:00am should report to the front office prior to going to their classrooms. We ask that students arriving after 8:30 are checked into the front office by a parent/guardian. Daily attendance is taken at 9:05AM.
From the Clinic
I hope everyone is surviving and thriving being back in school mode! It seems that germs are thriving now that everyone is back under one roof together. I am seeing a lot of coughs and congestion in the clinic. I wanted to offer some friendly reminders to parents regarding illness.
- Please do not medicate your student with a fever-reducing medication and then send them to school. The medication wears off and the fever is still there. During this time the student is contagious and needs to stay home so they do not infect others and continue to spread the illness. Remember, students must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications before returning to campus.
- If your student needs medication while at school it needs to be delivered to the nurse/clinic by a parent or guardian. No student should have medication on them, in their backpack or pockets. (Cough drops are not allowed on campus.)
- It is a good idea to wipe down backpacks and lunch kits frequently. Every weekend is a good time to make sure you are "de-germing" as much as possible to lessen exposure to potential illness.
- Students need a change of clothing in their backpack. Accidents happen (and not just the potty kind!). Having a change of clothing (including undergarments) helps the student quickly get back to learning and prevents parents from being interrupted throughout the day.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns!!

Campus Visitors
All visitors should use the front doors and check in with the WHE Front Office upon arrival to campus. Please be prepared to provide your identification/license to our receptionist when visiting WHE. All visitors must wear their WHE Visitor badge in a visible place while in the building, and must check out with the front office upon departure. Thank you for helping to keep our campus safe!
Forgotten Items & Lunch Visitors
Forgotten items and/or lunches can be dropped off in the front foyer. Please let the front office know that you have dropped something off, and make sure that the item is clearly labeled with your child's name & teacher/grade.
Parents/Guardians wishing to have lunch with their child are welcome starting Friday, September 1st. All visitors must bring their ID - as visitors must check in with the front office to obtain a visitor's badge. Please be respectful of the following procedures when visiting WHE for lunch:
Visitor badges must be worn and visible at all times when you are in the building!
Lunch guests are required to sit at the special "guest" tables located in the center of the cafeteria and should only sit with their child.
Lunch guests may not walk around the cafeteria to visit with other students and may not share/purchase food for any other students except their own.
In order to avoid crowding, visitors will be asked to wait in the front foyer until it is lunch time and are asked to stay only for their students' lunch time.
All visitors must check out with the front office when lunch is over.

Notice - Cell Phones & Smartwatches
We are aware that many of our students use cell phones to keep in contact with families before and after school. Please know that all students are expected to turn their cell phone off and keep them in their backpack during the school day. At no time are WHE students allowed to use their cell phones during the instructional day. Smartwatches are permitted to be worn, but should only be used for the watch function - all texting, calling, notification features, etc should be turned off. If a student is found using a smartwatch or cell phone inappropriately during the school day, it will be collected by the teacher until the end of the day.
