Happy National Engineers Week to all of our Engineers and future Engineers out there. National Engineers week is a time to celebrate the important work that engineers do and engage the next generation of innovators. Did you know that Walker Career Center is home to a wide variety of Engineering courses through our Project Lead the Way curriculum?

Courses Available: Introduction to Engineering Design (IED), Principles of Engineering (POE), Digital Electronics (DE), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), Civil Engineering & Architecture (CEA), and/or Engineering Design and Development (EDD).

This week, ECC had a Super Hero day and senior, Ms. Ruby decided to join the fun and dressed as Elasta Girl to celebrate along with her students. Ruby is a senior in our ECC program and has become a vital piece to the ECC community as she continues to work towards obtaining her Child Developmental Associate (CDA) credentials. Ruby is planning to take her talents to Wisconsin next year where she plans to play soccer and major in Special Education at Marian University. Hopefully Ruby will find her way back to a classroom in Warren after graduation!

This week, members of the Construction Trades program were awarded Carhartt Jackets to wear for the remainder of the year while they work outside in some of these difficult conditions. The jackets were donated by the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 91 in conjunction with the Warren Arts and Education Foundation. Thank you to everyone that was involved and I know the students will really appreciate getting to stay warm while working outside (as evidenced today in the picture below).

The Intro to Culinary Arts team learned how to make fried eggs this week in lab. Of course, you can't have fried eggs without a little toast and jam!

Students in Human and Social Services participated in a series of discussions and activities centered around Kindness and the effects it has on humans!

Representing the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority are Allyson Strother and Angie Hood; Representing the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity is Dennis Jarrett; Representing the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity is Al Huggins.

It is always impressive to see the pride and excitement that comes with wearing letters of one of The Divine Nine Fraternities or Sororities. I am glad they were able to share this experience with their students on Thursday this week!
