Quick Start Tutorials
What is Access 2016?
Do you have an idea for a database to help your team work more efficiently? With Access, you don’t have to be a developer to implement it.
Take advantage of your data with the power of Access—without writing code or becoming a database expert:
Use templates to build databases quickly.
Easily find and report on data stored in Access.
Create rich data entry forms.
Import, transform, and export a variety of data sources.
Add a Primary Key to a Table in Access
Create a primary key to associate data between multiple tables.
In the Navigation Pane, right click a table, and select Design View.
Select the field or fields you want to use as the primary key.
Select Design > Primary Key.
Backup your Database in Access
Select File > Save As.
Under Database File Types, select Save Database As.
Under Advanced, select Back Up Database and then select Save As and Save
The default file name includes the source database and when the backup occurred.
Create a Query, Form, or Report in Access
Create a select query
Create a query to focus on specific data.
Select Create > Query Wizard .
Select Simple Query, and then OK.
Select the table that contains the field, add the Available Fields you want to Selected Fields, and select Next.
Choose whether you want to open the query in Datasheet view or modify the query in Design view, and then select Finish.
Create a split form
A split form gives you two views of the data at the same time — a Datasheet view and a Form view. For example, use the Datasheet view to find a record and the Form view to edit it.
In the Navigation Pane, select a table or query that contains the data.
Select Create > More Forms > Split Form.
Create a report
Select Create > Report Wizard.
Select a table or query, double-click each field in Available Fields you want to add it to the report, and select Next.
Double-click the field you want to group by, and select Next.
Complete the rest of the wizard screens, and select Finish.
