Dear LMS Families,

The 2023-2024 brings on a lot of new faces at LMS and we cannot wait to introduce you to everyone! Megan Hankins, LMS Principal, comes to you from Olathe. She taught PE for 24 years and coached several sports along with administrative responsibilities. She has three kids, high school through college age, which keep her very busy outside of work. Ty Pfannestiel, LMS Assistant Principal/AD, comes to you from LHS! He will be serving both buildings as the athletic director. Ty has two children who both attend the Louisburg School District.

Student Schedules/Enrollment

Skyward will release student schedules on Monday, July 31st. Unfortunately these schedules are not final and are still being worked on due to new staffing and students. The office will be available on or after August 7th for any schedule inquiries.

Counselor's Corner

Hi, Wildcat Families! I am Sarah Alexander, your student’s middle school counselor. I am a Louisburg graduate and am so excited to be a Wildcat again! This is my first year as counselor at LMS, but my 8th year as a school counselor. During my seven years, I have been in both KCK and Blue Valley School Districts. I now live here in Louisburg with my husband, Brian, and our two children, Alaina and Asher. I love spending time outdoors, whether its finding a nearby hiking trail, walking around the lake in Louisburg with my toddlers, or reading a good book. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my friends and family.

I look forward to getting to know your student and supporting their academic, social and emotional development. I will be sending out additional information related to my role and my goals for this school year, in the coming weeks. I will be keeping you up-to-date throughout the school year, here in the Counselor’s Corner. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns related to your student. I look forward to a wonderful school year!

Back To School Night-Thursday, August 10th

Join us for the 2023-2024 Back to School Night at LMS! Thursday August 10th from 6pm-8pm for all incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. This is a time to meet your child's teachers, walk your schedule, and familiarize yourself with the school. You will also have an opportunity to meet administration, counselors, and sign up to be a part of Cats Club (PTO). Don't forget to grab a cookie on your way out!

Back to School Night Schedule:

6-6:30pm: 6th grade parents and students meet in the auditorium to meet your teachers.

7:30-8pm: All 7th and 8th grade students who plan on participating in athletics have a meeting in the auditorium.

**There will be a table set up in the commons area for all school supplies to be dropped off that will be shared among each grade level.

Locker Availability Times

Please be aware of staff training occurring throughout the building during these times. Staff are unavailable to parents and students at this time.

Building Access

The following dates are available for students to walk the building. Students must have a parent with them. Students are allowed to decorate the inside of their locker but please refrain from using strong adhesive, or anything that may not come off with ease at the end of the year. All visitors must check in at the front office prior to walking the school.

Site Council

Louisburg Middle School Site Council is made up of parents, community members, and school staff. The purpose of the school site council is to provide input to the school on such matters as student learning, education programs, and school improvement planning. The site council also plays an advocacy role for the school and provides ongoing support for the students and staff of the school.

6th Grade Orientation

The first day of school for all 6th grade students is Monday, August 14th from 8:00-3:05. It is recommended for students to arrive by 7:50 and they will be dismissed by 3:05pm. Students will receive their class schedule and chrome books, eat lunch, walk their schedules, practice opening their locker, and learn hallway etiquette. Students do not need to bring anything extra on this day.

7th & 8th Grade Students

The first day of school for all 7th and 8th graders is on Tuesday, August 15th from 8:00-3:05. Students will receive their schedules upon arrival.

Cats Club (PTO)

Parent Communication-What to expect

I will send a weekly email through Skyward with a link to an online parent newsletter called "The Wildcat Weekly Update." Important information regarding the next week and beyond is included in this newsletter.

The link will also be posted on Twitter and LMS website.

Reminder: Fall Sports Physicals

Any student interested in participating in fall sports must have their physical turned in by Wednesday, August 9th. You can bring them in the front office to Debbie Vincent anytime before then. Click the button below if you need a physical form to fill out.
