A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
A goal without a plan is just a wish. Now, I know with this warm weather we are all wishing summer would be here already, but there is plenty of work left to do. So let's start this week by PLANNING to do our best and finish strong with attendance, academically in classes, and good behavior by following ALL the rules and expectations that have been in place since day one. Watch what you are posting on social media, as there are REAL consequences to that. You may think it goes away in 10 seconds, or once you delete it, but unfortunately once you post it, someone has saved it and reposted it. Protect your digital footprint by choosing to think BEFORE you put things out there. Ask yourself, is it helpful, TRUTHFUL, or positive? If not, don't do it! There are some adults that need to follow this advice too, as you saw last week when someone mentioned George Ranch in a false hoax that originated in Florida. Rest assured I will always take this seriously, but I am so thankful for the parents that let me know, and came straight to the source to verify before "assuming" that what they read was true and insighting undue stress and fear for our community. You are the best, and I appreciate you! Lastly, for my Longhorns as we wrap up another successful year, don't just wish to do better...CHOOSE to do better by making Gr-eat choices everyday!
Thanks to the GRHS ABC, River Pointe Church, and our GRHS PTO for showing us love this week for Staff Appreciation! Thanks to all our parents that donate to make this week of spoiling for our large staff happen each year! Your kindness is so appreciated and we definitely felt loved!
Thanks to all the Longhorns that are helping us make GR (and the bathrooms) a CLEANER and SAFER place to be each day, it's working, and I have MORE Gift Cards! Thanks for your help! Keep it up! (More info in the newsletter)
*EXEMPTIONS WILL BE WIPED OUT IF YOU HAVE FINES*
Please log in and see if you have any fines for the additional IDs you had to buy due to not having yours with you. This is part of your dress code and has been a rule all year, make sure you get it taken care of now. I do not want you caught off guard when your exemptions are NOT approved due to outstanding fees. I have included the directions below. Check today and take care of paying it this week please!
Save the Date: Athletic Physicals - May 15th @ RJH!
ID Weekly Reminder
ID MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I announce this EVERY SINGLE MORNING. If you cannot find yours please scan the Blue/Yellow QR code in this newsletter, in the classrooms, or hanging in the front of the school service window to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code, but more importantly, a safety measure so we can quickly see who belongs and who does not on campus as well as help someone that may not be conscious due to a medical emergency.

HELP KEEP GRHS A SAFE (AND HEALTHY) PLACE TO BE! USE THE TIP LINE TO REPORT UNSAFE INCIDENTS!

Want to help? Here is what I will need on the tip line:

WEARING YOUR ID IS MANDATORY EVERY DAY FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS. $5 REPLACEMENT CHARGE
Student badges will serve as the student ID and SmartTag all in one card. With this ID our GRHS students are able to ride the bus, purchase breakfast/lunch, check out library books, able to use their personal devices (phones/airpods, etc) during lunch and advisory.
Refusing to wear your ID visibly on the top half of your body, is not an option, and will result in the consequences stated on the consequence chart below. Please make sure you are wearing your OWN ID.
Every GRHS student has been gifted an ID, protective plastic cover, and lanyard. It is imperative that our Longhorns adhere to this expectation, as this is part of the daily dress code for staff and students. If you need another badge or lose this one there is a $5 replacement cost. This is NOT optional, it is part of dress code. You can pay by cash or it will be charged to your student library account, for EACH replacement you need. Please note that a hold will be placed on your semester grades, transcripts, and final exemptions if this fine is not cleared.
Need a REPLACEMENT ALREADY?
If you are needing to PURCHASE ANOTHER student ID, please use the QR code (above) to request one. You can either pay $5 cash when you pick it up, or we will charge your school library account if you do not have cash.
