Weekly Update October 8, 2021
Head Cheetah's Message
Dear Families,
It is so hard to believe that we are in the second month of October. The days are getting shorter, and the mornings are getting chillier; but our cheetahs continue to arrive each day full of enthusiasm and joy! This month the Profile of a Graduate principle we are working on is being "caring." We encourage you to continue the conversation at home about being a caring member of our community. Have a wonderful long weekend!
Best,
Joey and Andrea

Hi Cheetah families!
It has been a busy month in the Memorial School library! Students have been practicing their library skills each week and are becoming more independent library users.
See below for grade level classroom expectations.
PreK students are enjoying a variety of read alouds and songs with the themes of fall, apples, and pumpkins. We have also practiced some sorts reinforcing colors, the same and different, and practiced counting together.
Kindergarten is working on discussing the role of the author and the illustrator. We have read This is My Book and have done several sorts and songs to aid in this discussion.
First grade is beginning their unit on digital citizenship by listening to the “Mouse Who Went Surfing Alone”. We have talked about what the internet is and what kinds of things we can do with the internet. The message of these lessons has been that using the internet is a big responsibility and we need adult supervision when using it.
Second grade has begun their unit on digital citizenship. They are learning about the types of information that are safe to put online versus what is unsafe. We have learned that we should never share our username/passwords, birthday, school, or address. In addition second graders have begun listening to the 2022 Nutmeg nominees read aloud. This month we have started Mega Bat by Anna Humphrey.
Third grade has also begun their unit on digital citizenship. They are reviewing the types of information that are safe to put online versus what is unsafe. They are also discussing how to create a safe and strong username. In addition third graders have begun listening to the 2022 Nutmeg nominees read aloud. This month it was we have started Mega Bat by Anna Humphrey
