Inclement Weather ~ Potential Virtual Day
It is definitely time for this Snow and Cold to go away!
Since we did not have a snow day before February 1, Blair Oaks will not be in session tomorrow (Monday, February 15). This is the first time we have had President's Day off in recent memory. We may have not had a snow day prior to February 1, but we have made up for it since.
When winter neared, we sent a message to everyone that we would use virtual learning only in unusual circumstances. Those unusual circumstances may be here. Weather conditions this week have the potential to require another full day school cancellation. We will use a late start when possible, but if we have a full day school cancellation on Tuesday, February 16, we are going to implement a virtual learning day. Virtual learning days will be a consideration all week.
On Thursday, we sent Chromebooks home with some grades that normally only use them only at school. Our building principals will communicate expectations to students and parents if a virtual day is implemented. We understand that virtual learning may not be the best method for every grade level. The timing of these weather events have been a challenge. Thanks to all of you for your help making the early release last Monday and the late start last Thursday a success. Special thanks to many Grandparents I saw dropping their Grandchildren off at school on Thursday. I remember seeing many of those Grandparents with high school students (now parents) when I arrived in 1999. Time flys! It was a busy morning dropping off students and some pretty awesome Valentine's boxes.
If we have a virtual learning day on Tuesday or any other change in the schedule, we will announce it as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may create, but we appreciate your commitment to the learning processes of all our students.
We are Blair Oaks!
