Mobile Learning EFL

An international online course for EFL / ESL teachers which aims at providing in-service English teachers with the opportunity to reflect about and explore Mobile Learning possibilities. Each week, participants are expected to read articles, watch videos, participate in discussions and reflect about MLearning in the classroom. Teachers from Brazil and Argentina will be working collaboratively in devising Mobile Projects for the EFL classroom. As the course will be carried out in English, teachers from other countries are also welcome.

Participants are not expected to have any prior technological knowledge. However, basic experience of internet and e-mail are welcome.

During this course you'll

• Ways to evaluate educational apps.

• Lesson plans integrating Mobile Learning.

Digital Spaces: Course Networking, Google Docs, Issuu, Lino.it, List.ly.

The course will cover 4 weeks from the start date.

Participants are expected to spend around 5-6 hours per week reading articles, participating in discussion forums and developing individual and group work. There are some optional tasks to those who wish to move further.

Jennifer Verschoor holds a degree in Literary, Technical and Legal Translation, a Bachelor degree in Educational Management, certifications in English Teaching and ICT in the Classroom, an MA in Virtual Environments, and a Specialization in Education and ICT offered by the Ministry of Education in Argentina. She has given numerous workshops on the integration of New Technologies in Education in Argentina, Japan, Paraguay, Costa Rica and the United Kingdom. She is the co-author of My First Digital Journey e-Book published by The Round in December 2012. She is a proud Webhead and President of ARCALL Argentine Computer Assisted Language Learning.

Ana Maria Menezes is an EFL teacher, teacher trainer, online moderator and the technology coordinator at a Language Institute in Brazil. She writes about new learning possibilities at her blog LIFE FEAST and has organized her work in two ebooks for EFL teachers: Webtools applied to teaching and Developing the 4 Skills with Webtools. She has co-moderated several EVO sessions and has given talks at International Conferences. Very recently, she has finished an MA in Applied Linguistics, in the area of teacher development in virtual environments.

Participants will be invited to self-evaluate their learning and performance during the course.

A CERTIFICATE will be issued to participants who cover 80% of the proposed activities.

Teachers from Argentina should enroll via ESSARP.
