Opportunities to Lead for FY24
As we begin planning for FY24, we are looking for staff to lead programming for next school year in the following areas:
- Student Council (Paid Stipend)
- Minority Scholars Program (MSP) (Desmond will help to facilitate this and relinquish responsibility as staff become familiar with it. You do not need to be a minority to lead this) (Paid Stipend)
- SERT
- Social Committee
- Staff Wellness/ RJ Coach (Paid Stipend)
- Homework Club- Morning (8-8:45) or Afternoon (3:25-4:25 pm); support kids with homework as needed ( Paid Stipend)
- STAT Performance Afterschool Programming- Lead an afterschool activity of choice (Paid by STAT)
- Other opportunities as Staff see a need
Please contact Ilana and Desmond if you are interested in leading any of these initiatives as we would like to get these on the FY24 draft calendar and begin to put things in place to support those who plan to lead these initiatives. We thank you in advance.
PTA News
"OUR TEACHERS & STAFF RAISE THE BAR" STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK MAY 8-12
Our annual Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week begins tomorrow, May 8 and goes through May 12! The theme this year is OUR TEACHERS & STAFF RAISE THE BAR! Below is an itinerary of weekly events along with suggestions of ways you can contribute to the fun of showering our teachers and staff with the appreciation they deserve!
Monday, May 8:
We want to begin the week by espresso-ing our thanks for our posi-tea-vly terrific staff! The PTA will be providing a COFFEE & TEA BAR in the staff lounge to simply say, "Thanks a latte!" In addition, students will have the opportunity to write mini notes of thanks at tables that will be set up before school begins today and tomorrow. These small star-shaped papers will be put up on the walls of the staff lounge throughout the week.
Tuesday, May 9:
Because we have nacho-average staff, the PTA will be providing a NACHO BAR in the staff lounge on this day.
Wednesday, May 10:
Our MHES Staff is full of smart cookies, so on this day, bring in your teacher's favorite candy or granola bar! The PTA will also be providing a DESSERT BAR in the staff lounge that will be mounds of fun!
Thursday, May 11:
We are waffly- grateful to everyone at MHES who teaches and enriches the lives of our students! There will be a WAFFLE & YOGURT BAR in the staff lounge on this day to thank our teachers a brunch!
Friday, May 12:
Let's pop on by to say thanks to our teachers and staff by giving them a thoughtful card brought from home today. In addition, the PTA will be providing a SNACK BAR in the staff lounge!
SMALL THINGS MATTER FOOD DISTRIBUTION
We have two of these coming up this month; May 8 and May 22!
CHIPOTLE SPIRIT NIGHT FUNDRAISER
Come on out to our next Spirit Night Fundraiser on Wednesday, May 17, from 4-9pm at the Chipotle in Wintergreen Plaza! Chipotle will donate 33% of sales back to Meadow Hall. Order online for pickup using code 8FF3DMJ or show the attached flyer if you order in the restaurant.
FUN RUN AND COIN DRIVE RECAP
We had 79(!!!) MHES students run at the Fun Run last week (this # does not include younger/older siblings, teachers, and family). A special THANK YOU to Lana Crouse for running the event, and thank you to everyone who helped with the event, before and during! Congratulations to Ms. Hellman's class with the highest percentage of class attendance! And many congrats to fifth grade for having the highest percentage of their grade attend!
We raised over $1,200 (180 pounds!) in the Battle for Spare Change this year! Congratulations to everyone and thank you for your participation! We have already spent this money to purchase much needed items for the school, primarily for recess and P.E. equipment. We look forward to pie-ing and silly-stringing several Meadow Hall teachers and staff at a later date during a school day for everyone to see (date is still to be determined)!
EXCITING PTA BOARD NEWS!
At last week's PTA meeting, we elected Courtney Bellizzi as PTA Secretary for the next school year. We also nominated Nicole Hennessy for the President position and Emily Quaglieri for Vice President of Administration. Final elections will take place at the June PTA Meeting. We are very excited for our new board members! If you see them, be sure to congratulate them in their new roles!!
