We had another busy week at RES! Pre-K had a fun learning experience at the Children's Museum, 2nd grade learned about Earth Day and visited the greenhouse at RHS, 3rd and 4th grades ROCKED their Reading STAAR tests, and all of our students worked really hard!

2nd grade learned all about Earth Day, plants, and conservatories this week. We took advantage by going down to the high school greenhouse for the students to see. A special thanks to Mr. Swinford for allowing us to visit.

Parents, we are seeing an increase in students bringing toys, jewelry kits, and other unnecessary items from home. This causes distractions and sometimes conflict at school. Please help us by making sure your child/children are only bringing items that are necessary for school, unless special permission has been given and communicated to you by the teacher.

In Spanish class, 3rd Grade students were excited about the Spanish Travel Unit.

They created their own personal pasaporte (passports). We are learning about Spanish -Speaking countries and going on virtual field trips in the classroom

While we recognize that our students are more than a test score, we do want them to excel in everything they do, including state testing!

Although there are a lot of uncertainties surrounding the new STAAR tests, we have done our best to prepare for them! Our teachers and staff have done lots of research and found ways to help students get familiar with the new format. Students have been working extra hard to prepare!

We have been encouraging our students to put forth their best efforts in everything that they do so that each assignment they submit is something that they can take pride in and that they would be proud to show their parents and loved ones.

Here are a few tips to help your child and our Super Scholars have the best day possible:

• Get plenty of rest!
• Eat a healthy breakfast.
• Dress comfortably
• Start your day peacefully.
• Arrive on time.
• Think positive thoughts!
• Don't stress and do your best!

We make student and staff safety a priority at RES! One new safety feature we are implementing is that you MUST present a state issued photo ID to be permitted to visit our campus. Your ID will be kept in the front office while you are on campus. Your ID will be returned when you check out in the front office. This will help us keep track of anyone on campus in the event of an emergency. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Also, be prepared to show a photo ID when checking students out early.
