Hand Dryers

We will have new Hand Dryers fitted in both the ladies and gents toilets within the next few days. These are courtesy of AML Construction Services. Eddy and Graham are delighted.

Some of you may already be aware that the club has had donated a fine scale model of one of the Albert Strange designed Sheila 11. the model has been given to us by Keith Burdett of Sheffield, a retired marine engineer. He hadn't realised Albert Strange had any connection with Scarborough YC until he was looking at the information board by the entrance to the pontoons, and saw the line drawing of Sheila11 on there. Andrew and Maggie Boyes have kindly provided the display case so the model can now go on show in the club.

Also on memberships, if you have any crew who are sailing as guests, please remember to sign them in the visitors book on EVERY visit to the club, this is a legal requirement, better still get them to join as a member.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been getting to grips with the new website and I have managed to add some content, however, I really do need some help with this, not with adding it but with content, historic photos, new photos, stories, information, anything that you think will be of help and interest to make the site better for members and visitors alike. If you have anything please send to me at rearcommodore@syc.org.uk so I can add it to the site.

We have a fantastic club here in Scarborough and some great club members, so first of all have a great Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year to all of you.

This is my 5th year as Rear Commodore and I must admit, although I enjoy it somewhat it does have it's testing moments, we all try and run the club to please everyone and make it a successful operation, with not just the Flag officers, but all the committee members, of all the committees, management, sailing, social and not forgetting Win and Helen for North Sea Race, Dinner Dance and New Years Eve, all giving up time to make things happen.

I am sure that you will all agree that the club has seen some major improvements over the last couple of years and we want to keep that trend going, however, we need your help, we need support, as you can see from the 'News' above we have quite a few things planned over the next three months and hopefully more to be added, (Social Calendar Here) all we ask of you, is to come along to the events, the more the merrier.

As you may know I have taken on the task of looking after the new website, as well as sending out the monthly Newsletter, this should make sure that everyone gets to hear about everything that is happening and gives you a chance to communicate with all other members, wether it's something for sale or a story you would like published on the website, just send it to me at rearcommodore@syc.org.uk and let me know if you have any ideas for the club or if you have any events you would like to hold there.

Not sure yet if I will be Rear of the year next year but I am sure I will be helping out somewhere, BBQ's maybe.

We still only have 25 people registered with Easy Fund Raising and there is no better time than now for joining and raising funds for the club.

This is no cost to you and is so simple to do, just click one of the links, join, and thats it, EFR will automatically pick up on any online stores that are registered, you do nothing but shop, it is completely anonymous, you will just see a small icon in the top right of your browser, this will link to any retailer partnered with EFR. A little more to ad on this as not so many have registered. It's easy to say 'oh I can't be bothered' but really folks you are just throwing money away and it really is so easy, once you have registered, there is nothing more to do, if you go online to do shopping and the site you go to is registered, then it automatically kicks in and gives the club a donation, as simple as that.
All I ask is that you join to renew your utilities and insurance, this can raise so much for the club and yet costs you nothing, by registering you will also get special offers sent to you.
