Dear Rayburn Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! Our Rayburn Staff is ready to welcome our students back for a great year of learning. We are all excited to see everyone both new and returning to Rayburn. I want to start by thanking parents for selecting Rayburn as your school of choice. I know that nowadays there are many options for schools, and I am so grateful that we have the opportunity to contribute to your child’s life. We take this responsibility very seriously and will strive to bring the best learning possible to your child.
As students return this school year, please know that we are doing as much as possible to keep them safe. Our district has made many investments to support student and staff safety. We are committed to safety and have continued to stay diligent about ensuring that the campus is secured at all times. This includes an addition for a front entrance camera security. All visitors will push a button (similar to a Ring Doorbell) to be allowed entry. We will be reviewing numerous safety procedures with your child beginning the first day and this will continue to be reinforced throughout the year. One of the greatest ways you can assist us with our safety procedures is to please bring your child on time each day and not pick them up until dismissal. Please always do your best to schedule appointments outside the school day. When students leave early this causes a disruption in instruction and supervision.
McAllen ISD has invested in electronic devices for each child and we will continue to use these as a learning tool in the classroom. Please make sure your child's device is charged each evening and sent to school each day.
Please have patience as we teach our new families drop off and pick up procedures. Traffic can get busy in the mornings and afternoons, so please help us by using the south side drive through and staying attentive to the traffic. Please refrain from being on your phone as well. Keeping the rear passenger side seat available for us to unload and load your child will help things go much smoother. The first two weeks are always a challenge, so I ask for your support.
Please stay updated with information from our school and district through ongoing newsletters, emails and social media. Our Rayburn Parent Handbook is linked below, please take time to read over this so you are informed on all school policies and procedures. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out by phone or email. Working together, we will bring the best education possible to your child!

CAFETERIA UNDER CONSTRUCTION
We would like to inform you that our school cafeteria continues to be under construction. Rest assured that during this time our students will continue to receive delicious and nutritious breakfast, lunch, and supper meals. We are committed to meeting all dietary needs of our students. This project will help us be able to cook on site and provide even more delicious meals for our students. Construction is expected to be completed February 2024. Thank you for your understanding during this transition.
