Principal's Desk
This week is off to a great start and the students seem super excited to back at school. I know I am so excited for a great 2023-2024 school year.
New Kindergarteners Practice Drop-off and Pick-up on Saturday:
Welcome to all of our new Kindergarteners. They sure are a very independent group this year.
The ones that practiced Drop-off and Pick-up did a fabulous job. All of the students are staying
inside the yellow line as they walk to the playground in the morning.
First Day Assemblies:
We had our 1st day of school assemblies to learn about lunch and playground expectations.
First Week of School
The students are off to a great start of learning the classroom expectations and routines.
Ms. Lawrence's (Senorita Villarreal’s sub) class is doing a great job:
They were learning be safe, be kind and be responsible in Spanish. These are the Bobcat expectations here at Ventana Vista. Ask your child how to say this in Spanish.

Change in Dismissal Plans
Arrival and Dismissal
Thank you to everyone for your patience as we (staff, students, and families) use our drop off and pick up system. We are working to get it to run more efficiently. On Monday arrival ended at 8:20 am. On Tuesday, it ended at 8:07 am and today it ended at 8:03 am. On Monday dismissal took 35 minutes, Tuesday 25 minutes, and yesterday it took 20 minutes. That is something to celebrate and we will get better throughout the week!
During arrival--thank you to everyone who is pulling as far forward as you can and encouraging your children to be ready with their things to open the door and get out when the car comes to a stop. This helps us run most efficiently. Parents please DO NOT get out of your car to help your child, this is not safe practice for you or your child. We don't have enough adults to open all of the car doors. Your children can get out when you have safely come to a stop.
During dismissal-thank you for paying attention to which number you should pick up your child at. Our staff shows you with her fingers which number you will go to to meet your child. Number 1 is all the way up at the top of the loop.
Dismissal works like the airport--the zone number you are given is like the "airline" you are going to to pick up your child. Your "passenger" will meet you there. Drive on the left side to get to your airline. Pull over to the right when you arrive at your zone. Don't leave your airline zone or your passenger won't know where to find you. Once your passenger is loaded, pull out to the left and be on your way. Parents please stay in your car. Hope that analogy helps!
Ready to Volunteer?
Ready to get your steps in for the week?:-) We are looking for parent volunteers for our Dibels testing 8/14-8/17. We need 1-2 parents a day who can act as runners to pick up students in classrooms, help to manage kids while they wait for testing, and walk students to classes after their assessment is complete. Your help is greatly appreciated to get the entire school tested during this week!
Monday 8/14: 8:15-11:00 (1st Grade)
Tuesday 8/15: 8:15-12:00 (2nd Grade)
Wednesday 8/16: 8:15-12:00 (3rd Grade)
Thursday 8/17: 9:15-12:00 (4th/5th Grade)Important message from our Health Office - please read carefully
Hello parents, as we start the school year here are a couple of reminders from the health office. If your child will need medications at school they must be provided in the original medication packaging (no Ziplocs, no loose pills, no pill containers).
If the medication is a prescription please be sure the prescription label is attached to the packaging and we will need a signed medication consent form (signed by parent).
If the medication is over-the-counter we will need a signed medication consent form (signed by parent and medical provider) AND the medication should be in the original packaging.
Please contact the our health office with any questions.
Thank you!
