Growth Mindset
Dear Friends & Colleagues of WUSD,
In our school district, we work to develop growth mindset among our learners. Growth mindset describes a way of viewing challenges. Those who have a growth mindset believe that even if they struggle with certain skills, their abilities aren’t set in stone, and there is always room for improvement and the ability to attain it. They believe that with work, practice, and dedication, skills can improve over time. At WUSD, we employ a growth mindset and set our sights on continuous improvement.
By applying work, practice, and dedication to learning and moving forward, we will achieve great things. We are seeing the benefits of this growth mindset and evidence of continuous improvement in our school district performance and attendance data. At mid-year, I would like to recognize the students and staff that make it all possible. Truly talented is the team of teachers that supports our learners in developing skills and mindsets while continuously enriching their own. And students tackling challenges with a growth mindset and readiness to learn inspire us each and every day. Thank you!

SECONDARY- MIDDLE SCHOOL
Whitewater Middle School Launches New Literacy Courses in Second Semester
Please read below a note from WMS staff introducing the new reading courses now available in second semester at Whitewater Middle School:
January 16, 2024
Greetings all WMS students and families,
Great News! WMS staff know that reading skills matter for school success and success in life. Knowing we need all students to be strong readers, we are launching seven new sections of reading classes starting 2nd semester. These classes will be targeted to accelerate reading skills for students, which will result in rapid growth in literacy skills and positively impact student performance across content areas. We have carefully looked at every student’s learning needs in our building, and have made adjustments to schedules in order to best fit those learning needs throughout the school day.
This is an exciting change at WMS and we are looking forward to the 2nd semester! Let’s encourage all of our students to be great readers!
With Whippet pride,
Whitewater Middle School staff
