The Llewellyn Friday Flyer
September 29, 2023
Dear Families,
What a busy and exciting week we have had! School Photos, Silly Sock Day and lots of rain has made it really feel like fall.
Don't forget! There is more fun to come. October is full of family events and fun. Run Llewellyn is next Friday (October 6th). See the information below if you want to volunteer or register your child(ren). Money raised goes to our Llewellyn Foundation. Foundation dollars are used to pay for additional staff to support our students! We also have a Harvest Festival coming up on Saturday, October 7th. What a great way to enjoy time with the Llewellyn Community!
Thank you SOOO much to the Sunshine Committee for the amazing lunch! We also have enjoyed the beautiful seasonal decorations.
Thank you for your readership! Please share any questions or feedback about this newsletter or school in general through email at pgwynn@pps.net.
Have a great weekend!

Meet Our New Staff
Duncan Law
Hi Llewellyn Community!
My name is Duncan and I’m the part-time Learning Center teacher working with Mrs. McDaid. I also work at Bridger Creative Science, and I enjoy learning from the diverse teaching styles found in both schools! I studied Music at Reed before pivoting into the field of special education, where I have worked for the past 8 years. In my free time I enjoy trying restaurants in SE Portland, visiting family on the coast, and taking my poodle to the river.

If you haven't yet, please take time to update your Verification form. You can log into ParentVue on a desktop here: https://parent-portland.cascadetech.org/portland/PXP2_Login.aspx
Parent Tip: Add Llewellyn as a contact in your phone (503-916-6216). That way you know it’s us calling and not a Spam call! This is especially important for when the nurse or office need to reach you due to an emergency regarding your student.
School Spirit Days
Every Friday will be a School Spirit Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their Llewellyn gear new or old. One Friday per month will be a fun theme. On 10/27 ie will be Favorite Color Day!
News from the PTA
Welcome back everyone!
PTA Happenings
Welcome fall!! Time for all the comfort foods, warm drinks and cozy sweaters to become a regular staple in our routine. It was great seeing so many of our Llewellyn families at the open house and students going from classroom to classroom excited to show their families what they have been learning and creating. We hope you got a chance to stop by our Llewellyn PTA table to grab a calendar so you could see what exciting things we planned for the year.
The Llewellyn PTA Charleston Wrap fundraiser kicks off today! This sale will help with funding for field trips for ALL grades so share widely with friends and family! The sale is now all online - easier to share, packages go to your preferred address, and no paper order forms to keep track of. Packets with the physical catalog are going home with your child today. The gift wrap is excellent quality and there are lots of other fun gift ideas to choose from. Orders typically arrive around Thanksgiving, so you can avoid a frantic holiday shopping season. You can also register online at www.registercw.com and enter our Organization ID 11592. Then please start SHARING our fundraiser with your family & friends via email, text and social media. Gift wrap sales will end October 15. Questions? Contact parent volunteer Kili Fern at kiliandethan@gmail.com
Save the Date! Our annual Harvest Festival is coming up Saturday Oct 7! Join us for a work party to build 16 new raised garden beds that Renee Wilkinson, head of our Green Team, was able to purchase with a grant she submitted through the East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District along with matching funds from Llewellyn PTA. Here’s the menu of fun we will have happening that day: arts/crafts activities table, exploration of mason bee nests with Naturehood PDX, doughnuts and apple cider, and free pumpkins (while supplies last) to take home! We are in need of volunteers to help us make this event a fun-filled experience for everyone. Watch Konstella for our sign up or email Renee at ReneeCBWilkinson@gmail.com if you are ready to jump right in and volunteer!
Gear is still available for preorder and ordering has been extended to October 1! You all have been really generous in your donations towards T-shirts for teachers and students and we are grateful for your generosity. Get your final orders in so you are ready for all our spirit days ahead! Gear can be purchased at our website: gear.llewellynpta.com. Any questions about website or payment issues can be answered at llewellyn.elementary.gear@gmail.com.
And last but not least……. Monster March is back at Llewellyn! We are very excited to host the starting and ending point of this annual Sellwood community event. More details to come in future newsletters and look for Konstella and social media posts in the coming weeks!

Run Llewellyn
Hard to believe but we are 7 days away from RUN Llewellyn on Friday, October 6! Did we mention that the class that earns the most money gets to design next year's Run Llewellyn t-shirt?
There is still time to register your children here: Run Llewellyn
We still need volunteers to mark laps, check in parents and family members, and cheer on the runners. We have spots open in Morning Session #2 (10-11:30 am) and the Afternoon Session (12:30-2:15 pm). Please check Konstella for the volunteer announcement and sign-up sheet.
Did someone say Dine Out?
Dine out and support the Llewellyn Foundation at Reverend's BBQ on October 25!

My name is Deasia Daugherty and I'm the head cheerleading coach at Cleveland High School. We are hosting a Youth Cheer Clinic October 2nd-5th with a half time performance at the Homecoming Football game on the 6th. Practices will be held at the Cleveland track and field 4pm-6pm, Monday-Thursday. Participants will meet at the track and field on Friday Oct. 6th at 6:15pm before the game to get t-shirts and bows. Is there any way you could pass the information along to your students about the cheer clinic? We encourage anyone & everyone to sign up, no cheer experience is necessary!
Students will learn a dance and some cheers that they will perform at halftime of the homecoming game. We are also asking all the participants to cheer with us down on the track, for the first half of the game.
Grades: 4th - 8th
Fee: $50 - it includes a t-shirt and a bow.
Registration: Sign up is located on the Cleveland High School Athletic website under fall sports - cheer. Below is the google doc form.
I've attached the flier for the camp below if anyone wants a print out! If anyone has questions/concerns please reach out to me and I'll be happy to assist! A huge thank you from the Cheer Team here at Cleveland and we hope to see some of your students during the cheer clinic!
